1313 Music welcomes applications to the Jerry Granelli Teaching Mentorship program as part of the 2026 Creative Music Workshop (CMW). The Jerry Granelli Teaching Mentorship is intended as an opportunity for alumni of the CMW, who have active improvisation and teaching practice, to learn about the core teaching philosophy of the CMW to enhance their own teaching practices.
Mentees will participate in the CMW alongside students, attend faculty discussions and meetings, assist the CMW faculty when required, and receive mentorship from director J. Anthony and the CMW faculty.
The Jerry Granelli Teaching Mentorship is not a training program, rather it is an opportunity to connect with and learn from CMW faculty and gain insight into the CMW methodologies. It is intended to support the growth and development of the work and the CMW community.
*Applicants must have attended the summer CMW program a minimum of two times to apply.
The Jerry Granelli Teaching Mentorship includes: Free access to the Creative Music Workshop; The opportunity to work directly with the CMW faculty throughout the workshop, including observation of faculty meetings and discussions; Post-workshop debrief with core CMW faculty; Possible performance opportunities; Halifax Jazz Festival All Events Pass.
