🇨🇦 Saskatchewan could become a major hub for Canada’s AI infrastructure.

Bell and the Saskatchewan government announced a planned expansion that could add up to 900 MW of capacity, creating a potential 1.2 GW AI infrastructure hub.

The project represents up to $52.5B in planned capital investment and is projected to create 4,500 jobs.

But these are planned figures: the expansion is subject to agreements, permits, approvals and environmental assessments.

🇨🇦 Canada wants to change how major projects are reviewed.

Bill C-39, the proposed Building Canada Strong Act, would establish a maximum one-year timeline for federal reviews and decisions once a project proponent has submitted a comprehensive application and the required information.

The proposal would coordinate multiple federal processes into a more streamlined system — but one year does not mean automatic approval.

🇨🇦 Canada’s population is still growing but at a much slower pace.

Statistics Canada estimates the country had 41.8 million people on July 1, 2026, up 0.5% from a year earlier. That’s the lowest annual growth by number since 1944–45 and the lowest percentage growth since 1915–16.

Canada’s median age has also reached 40.9.
