The MacIsaac Agency

The MacIsaac Agency The MacIsaac Agency is a Halifax-based artist booking agency representing emerging and international artists from a diverse variety of musical genres.

Founded by musician and Music Nova Scotia award winning agent Jason MacIsaac, the agency was formed in 2006 as JJ Bookings and renamed in early 2015. Beginning as an outlet to book bands Jason performed in, the company evolved into a booking service for artists looking to tour on the East Coast of Canada. Past shows and tours were booked for artists such as The Mahones, Sean Ashby (guitarist for

Sarah McLachlan), The Ascot Royals, The Dreadnoughts, X-Prime and former Arkells Keyboardist Dan Griffin to name a few. While still offering the service of tour booking for other artists, the agency developed a full-time artist roster and now is home to some of the top acts from the East Coast of Canada, developing acts from both Canada and the U.S. and has been a strong part in the career development of past roster clients such as Gloryhound, The Stogies and Jay Smith (former guitarist for Matt Mays).

New single from The Stanfields out today

New single from The Stanfields out today

A note from Jon about the new single 'Breakers in the Dark' :
Listen here: https://smarturl.it/BreakersInTheDark

This song was originally written by the ocean while my wife and I were on a mini-vacation last summer. Late one night while sitting on the front porch of our rented cottage, I found myself sitting alone listening to the waves crash on the shore somewhere out in the inky darkness, and thoroughly appreciating a special moment of gratitude and vague reflection. Of course, it wasn’t long before the nucleus of “Breakers in the Dark” manifested itself with a few gentle strums and a few mumbled words. At that point, the song had a more literal bent to it and in retrospect, was somewhat lazily indicative of the amazing time we were having over the course of those two precious days.

However, as I tend to do with songs, I stepped away from it for a while to let it marinade. When I sat back down with it a few months later, I was well-embedded back in the “real world” and all the stresses that come with trying to be a functioning adult - the original take on the song’s meaning felt years behind. Instead, I was drawn to an allegory that to me illustrated a far different experience - being adrift on the ocean, feeling alone and in the dark. Trying not to be swept away by raging breakers and otherwise unyielding forces constantly trying to overcome you - be it depression, drug abuse, poor physical health or your own life expectations. Breakers in the Dark isn’t specifically about anyone in particular but is an amalgam of my various struggles, and those of the important people in my life - struggles which sadly are not unique in the hyper-connected yet disturbingly isolated world we continue to make for ourselves. My great hope is that the listener will come away with a feeling of solidarity - knowing they are not alone, and at the time they need it most.

Great new video from The Royal Volts for "Shake" out today.

Music Nova Scotia Ragged Head Records

Right after signing to Ragged Head Records, The Royal Volts released “Shake,” the first single on the fledgling label all about making a bad deal with the devil. So far it seems to be paying off though. Within a month of the announcement the single already has a video. That devil works quick. .....
