Join us Saturday August 15th from 11:30 - 2:00 PM in this free collaborative community project where we will be making food themed felt bunting for the Dartmouth Commons Park Oven!

Find us at Leighton Dillman Park (The Dartmouth Commons), 36 Park Avenue, Dartmouth N.S.

In August 2012, the Park Avenue Community Oven opened in Leighton Dillman Park. Designed and built by Gena Arthur and artisans at Eco-Developments, this project is an initiative of the Dartmouth Commons Community Gardens and a group of committed citizens. The Park Avenue Community Oven provides an inclusive venue for community gatherings and events centered on food education and enjoyment.

Weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays, we host the popular “Open Oven” where community members can stop by and cook food in the oven. An Open Oven is a perfect opportunity for individuals and small groups (10 or fewer) to visit the oven for some fun times cooking outdoors in the park.

During Open Oven times, the oven is prepared for cooking pizzas and roasting vegetables. If you are hoping to prepare speciality items like bread, meat or cast iron cooking, you must book the oven for an alternate time.

2026 Open Oven Schedule
Thursdays: June 1st to August 26th (12-3pm)
Saturdays: May 6th to November 25th (12-3pm)
