Bergamot. Apple. Cassis. Persimmon.

And somewhere underneath it all, a nocturnal garden alive with fireflies and quiet magic.

Midnight in the Potager is the second fragrance in our Silk & Shadow collection, handcrafted to bring Holly Carr's silk-art narratives to life with every flicker. Find it on our website and at select shops.

Even though it is still summer, this is the time of year when fall feels just around the corner.

How are you preparing for the Autumn Equinox?

What is a potager?

Simply put, a potager is a traditional French botanical and kitchen garden - a place where utility meets beauty, and nature is grown with intention.

For us, the potager isn't just inspiration; it’s the root of everything we make. From the herbs and florals we cultivate to the seasonal notes that shape our candles and handcrafted soaps, our garden guides our entire process.

It’s small-batch, handcrafted, and grounded in nature. From garden to wick.
What do you grow in your potager?

After two seasons of drought conditions, we finally have beautiful mushrooms back in the forest. Yesterday I spent all afternoon foraging black trumpets and I cannot wait to go back after all the rain today.

Here are my top tips if you are thinking of taking up foraging:

Do your research. It takes time and experience in the woods foraging to learn the varieties of mushrooms.

Keep your tools clean. Bring multiple brown bags or baskets so you don't cross contaminate mushrooms. Always wash your hands after foraging.

When you find a choice edible mushroom, like a black trumpet, a hedgehog or a chanterell stop right where you are. Often there will be a patch of them and you don't want to accidentally step on any.

Take note of where mushrooms are growing. Lots of times they have a preferred environment, like a slight slope, a preferred species of tree, or companion plants.

Finally, when you find your favorite locations, keep that special secret all to yourself.

It's not Midnight in the Potager, but it is twilight and these bumble bees are settling in for the night on the hyssop blooms. Sweet dreams!
