“Trucks”. Oil on linen, 6ft x 3ft. This is not my usual painting subject, and, generally, I am indifferent to vehicles of any kind. But not these trucks in Combermere! The old, abandoned beasts of burden caught my attention as they decay and corrode into gorgeous colours. I thought these trucks were beautiful in their advanced decrepitude. I hope we, too, get more beautiful in old age.

“View from the Peter Overington Bridge, Stanhope” Thanks goes to Carol Moffat for suggesting beautiful painting scenes near Stanhope and for getting me permission to tred on private land. I loved the reflections on the water and the calm, steady flow of this river that empties into Beech Lake. 32” x 42”, framed in maple floater frame. Available “

“S.S. Bigwin”. This historic boat lives on the Dorset Channel and takes visitors on a cruise around Lake of Bays. It used to ferry guests to Bigwin Island in another era. Today, it has become a major feature and tourist attraction of our village. I paint it often, especially when the reflections in the water are clear and colourful. Oil on linen, 50” x 26”, framed in maple floater frame. Available.

“Arowhon Pines, Algonquin Park”. There’s no place like it! I have the privilege of painting on the grounds and eating in this magnificent dining hall throughout the summer. Sometimes I paint inside the hall, a welcome change from landscape painting. The massive, hexagonal building is made of hand hewn logs and is around a hundred years old. If you want a real Canadian experience with Canadian atmosphere and hospitality and delicious food, be sure to visit Arowhon Pines. I exhibit my Arowhon paintings in a small gallery on site. 18” x 22”, oil on linen, framed in maple floater frame. Available “ www.elizabeth johnson.ca

“Sailboats at Camp Tamakwa, Algonquin Park” My self-imposed summer assignment last year was to paint all the camps of Algonquin Park. Every camp welcomed me warmly and gave me permission to roam the grounds and choose my painting subject. The sailboats painting is from Camp Tamakwa. It was impressive to watch those kids skillfully slip under the boom and swing the giant sails around to catch the wind. Off they would fly! 4ft 2”x 3ft 2”, Oil on linen. Available.

“Paddles at Camp Northway, Cache Lake”. Last summer I had the privilege of painting all the camps in Algonquin Park. Northway, the oldest girls camp in North America, is rustic, bare bones and beautiful. Hope I can paint there again this summer. Oil on linen, 18”x 18”, framed in maple floater frame. SOLD
