It started in the early 1970s at a shoe factory in Aurora, where a teenage boy showed up for a shipping job and found himself completely entranced...
by the smell of the leather, the machines, the whole quiet mystery of how a shoe comes together.
That memory never left Scott Alexander.
Many careers later, in retirement, he finally had the time to follow it somewhere.
Today, he makes shoes entirely by hand. Measured to your foot, built on a custom last, every sole and welt hand-stitched, polished to a glass finish.
It's a craft that's nearly vanished, squeezed out by machines and manufacturing. Scott is one of the rare few still doing it the long way, because the long way is the right way.
This July, he's bringing that work to the Haliburton Art & Craft Festival for the very first time.
Shoes, leather bags, satchels, pet accessories, and more.
Come find him at Head Lake Park, July 24–26. Some things are worth waiting decades for.
