There's always been something worth protecting about things that are handmade.

Back in the 1960s, a group of artists and community members in the Haliburton Highlands recognized that value and began building something around it.

In 1979, with the support of the Township, the Haliburton Highlands Guild of Fine Arts moved into the decommissioned railway station.

Today, Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre continues its legacy as a registered Canadian charity, creating opportunities for people to explore, experience, and engage with the arts.

Sixty-three years later, the power of art to connect people and build community is still going strong.

It's one of the reasons so many visitors plan their summer around the Haliburton Art & Craft Festival.

Some things are worth protecting and cherishing.

The belief that started it hasn't changed.
