We would like to take a moment to wish two very special people, who have meant so much to this organization and our community, a very happy 50th anniversary! ๐ฅ๐
It is difficult to imagine where ArtWorks East would be today without Jack and Lee. Their vision, dedication, and unwavering belief in this place have helped shape not only our organization, but also the communities we call home.
Sometimes it takes someone on the outside to hold up a mirror for us to truly see our own strengths, and here in Guysborough County, thatโs exactly what Jack and Lee have done. They have helped us see ourselves not through the lens of what weโve lost, but through the lens of what remains. They have reminded us of our talent, our creativity, our resilience, and our ability to build something meaningful together.
For those of us who have witnessed the many changes our rural communities have faced over the years, from declining populations to the loss of services and young people moving away, Jack and Lee have been a powerful force for hope. Together, they have helped ignite a renewed sense of pride, possibility, and shared responsibility. They have shown us what can happen when people come together with a common purpose and a belief in one another.
Perhaps there is a lesson in their 50 years of marriage that extends beyond their personal lives. That lesson is the importance of partnership, compromise, mutual respect, and moving forward together. It is living with the understanding that no one gets left behind, that success is something to be shared, and that challenges are not meant to be faced alone, but together as a team.
In many ways, their work in the community reflects the strength of their union. Together, they have moved some very big mountains, and for that, they should be extremely proud of themselves, because we at ArtWorks East are certainly proud of them and are beyond grateful for all they have done to help shape our organization and community.
We are also grateful that a little bit of Jack and Leeโs story has become part of our own. Their impact will be felt for generations to come.
So hereโs to 50 years of love, partnership, community building, and inspiring others. And while it may be a bit of a stretch, we hope we can get at least 50 more years out of you both! Haha!
Happy Anniversary, Jack and Lee, and thank you for everything you have given to this community!
