Why Brow Mapping Is Never One-Size-Fits-All! ✨

Facial muscles can pull unevenly when we open and close our eyes, causing one brow to lift or shift differently than the other—especially around the fronts and arches.

This is why you can’t simply stamp on two identical eyebrows and expect symmetry!

As PMU artists, we must assess the brows with the eyes open and closed, adjusting our mapping to account for natural muscle movement.

Great brows are customized to facial anatomy, not a stencil! 🤎

Every time I sit here colouring in my own eyebrows, I’m reminded why I LOVE powder brows so much! 😂

Seriously, the time it takes to get them even, filled in, and looking good… EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. 🙄

Meanwhile, all my clients get to wake up with beautiful brows already done!

Not gonna lie, I’m a little jealous of you all! 😂💕 You have no idea how lucky you are!

Maybe one day someone will do mine! 🤣

🤎 NANO COMBO BROWS — THE PERFECT MIX OF SOFT & NATURAL! 🤎

The beauty of Nano Combo Brows is having the best of both worlds!

✨ Delicate, flowing hair strokes that mimic the natural direction of your brow hair, combined with soft, airy powder shading to create beautiful definition, fullness and shape.

The goal? Brows that look effortlessly natural, never heavy, harsh or stamped on!

As these brows heal, the colour softens and the strokes and shading blend together, creating a beautifully balanced, natural-looking brow.

Whether you have sparse brows, uneven growth or simply want a little more definition, Nano Combo Brows can give you that perfect balance of realistic hair strokes and a soft powder finish.

Because beautiful permanent makeup shouldn’t overpower your face — it should enhance what’s already there. 🤎

✨ HEALED POWDER BROWS — THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR! ✨

These are FULLY HEALED results, and what makes them even more beautiful is that this is a mature client!

Take a close look at her before photo. She had very sparse, wiry blonde brow hairs with little natural shape. Her left brow muscle is also stronger, naturally pulling that eyebrow higher.

By understanding her facial anatomy, working with her natural hair growth, and carefully creating as much symmetry as possible, we achieved these beautiful, soft results.

And THIS is what I want people to understand about healed permanent makeup.

Beautiful healed brows should NOT look like they’ve been stamped onto your face!

They should have:
🤎 Soft, powdery texture within the skin
🤎 Beautiful shape without harsh borders
🤎 Natural-looking colour and dimension
🤎 A flattering appearance with OR without natural brow hair
🤎 A shape that complements your facial anatomy

For mature skin especially, achieving healed results this soft and delicate is exactly what we want! Mature skin requires an educated approach to needle selection, pigment, pressure, depth, and technique.

Permanent makeup is not about putting as much pigment into the skin as possible. It’s about knowing how to create beautiful results that heal well.

Heavy, overly saturated brows that eventually turn blue or grey can sometimes be the result of improper pigment selection, depth, or technique. This is why EDUCATION MATTERS.

This client can return approximately every 12–24 months, depending on how her brows fade, so we can reassess the colour and gently refresh areas where needed.

The goal is not to create brows that look freshly tattooed forever. The goal is to create brows that look BEAUTIFUL HEALED.

And these results speak for themselves. 🤎

Digging through my old needle box 😂🪡

When I first got certified years ago, I didn’t know nearly as much about needle knowledge as I do now. I bought what was recommended to me, tried everything, eventually found my favourites… and all the others slowly ended up in the box. You know the one. 😂

So I thought it would be fun to pull some of them back out and see how they feel now that I have years more experience behind the machine.

For this test I kept my machine speed really low because I was working on fake skin and didn’t want to over-saturate it. I only did one pass on the hair strokes and faded/shaded everything pretty quickly. It’s definitely a bit of a beautiful mess — and trying to film this with my camera AND all my lights set up was a struggle 😂 — but totally worth it.

A few surprises:

25/1RLLT — I was actually shocked by this one. SO soft. Years ago, I honestly don’t think I had the skill or control to use it properly, which is probably exactly why it ended up forgotten in the back of the drawer.

1R – 0.18 — Not bad! A little scratchy, but I liked the pixelation and the way it moved across the skin.
25 / 7CMLT – Tina Davies Curved — This one was SO cool. It glided beautifully on the fake skin and made a gorgeous straight hair stroke. I wasn’t testing curved stroke patterns here, so I can’t speak to how I’d like it for actual hairstroke work on skin, but I was impressed.

1R – 0.16 — WAY too thin for me. 😂 I genuinely don’t know what I thought I was going to do with this one.

30/203MGLT Magnum — Really cool for shading. Definitely bigger, but I could see it being useful when you want a little fatter pixelation and coverage.

And my least favourite…

30/9MGPT — I hated the way this one felt. 😂 The best way I can describe it is trying to shade with a broken pencil crayon.

It’s actually really interesting going back and testing tools you dismissed years ago once your technique, hand pressure and machine control have completely changed.

Who else has a drawer or box full of needles they bought YEARS ago and never tried again once they became more experienced? 👀

✨ POWDER BROWS — AFTER FIRST SESSION ✨

This is immediately after her first Powder Brow session. I’ll be seeing this client again in approximately 6 weeks for her perfecting session, once the brows have fully healed and softened.

Powder Brows are designed to heal significantly lighter and softer — often around 50% lighter than the fresh result — leaving behind a clean, natural-looking shape.

This technique is ideal for creating definition and structure while still allowing the client’s natural brow hair to grow within the shape. The goal is never heavy, over-saturated brows. It’s controlled pigment placement, soft pixelation and gradual building to create a polished brow that still looks beautiful as it heals and fades.

These brows were created using my Powder Brow Technique — the same technique I teach inside my Powder Brow Certification Training in Guelph, Ontario.

If you’re a PMU artist ready to strengthen your technique, improve your healed results and learn my full process from mapping to machine work, pigment selection, pressure, depth and hands-on models…
