We are so excited to be hosting one of our longtime dance friends and instructor to many in our troupe, Audra Simmons in Guelph!
Calibrate and Polish with Audra
Join Audra for an immersive workshop designed to deepen your understanding of stage composition, fine-tune your ability to respond to musical cues, and heighten connection. This workshop is an invitation to explore, connect, and create in a supportive and dynamic environment. This workshop is designed for dance students and performers of all levels, regardless of past or current experience with group work or solo/group performances. We'll listen and create, discuss and rework as we work with solo and group positions and stagings (think dynamic formations and interesting stage placement), creating interesting pathways and postures that are influenced and shaped by our musical choices and play with different ways to create connections to our audience (and other group members for troupe dancers).
Youโll come away with:
An Elevated Understanding of Composition: Explore the building blocks of compelling performances and learn how to contribute meaningfully to the overall artistic vision.
A More Finely-Tuned Response to Musical Cues: Develop your ability to listen deeply, react intuitively, and create dynamic, theatrical moments that resonate with audiences.
A Heightened Audience and/or Ensemble Connection: Forge stronger bonds with the audience and fellow troupe mates through collaborative exercises, creation of form and tableau, and use of gaze.
The Ability to Create Dynamic Theatrical Moments: Learn to combine these skills to create theatrical magic that is unique and shines with your own golden touch.
We will have a short break of 5-10 minutes during the workshop.
