Tom was a talented craftsperson and designer and built our sets for Collective Rage: A Play In Five Betties and An Act Of God. When we moved our productions to The Red Brick Cafe, Tom built our stage that could be moved in and out with ease.

Tom was also a wonderful performer and graced the stage with RCMPI for 20 years.

But most of all Tom was a good friend. He will be deeply missed.

GOULD, Tom – It is with deep sadness that we share Tom’s passing. He died peacefully at Guelph General Hospital surrounded by family on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the age of 54.

HAPPY WORLD THEATRE DAY!

Theatre Day is an important day to celebrate for several reasons:

Promotion of Theatre Arts: Theatre Day celebrates the art of theatre and its significance in human culture. It highlights the importance of theatrical performances as a means of artistic expression and communication.

Cultural Exchange and Understanding: Theatre has been a medium for cultural exchange since ancient times. It brings people together from diverse backgrounds, fostering understanding and empathy among different cultures and communities.

Preservation of Tradition and Heritage: Many theatrical forms have deep roots in cultural traditions and heritage. Celebrating Theatre Day helps to preserve these traditions and ensure that they continue to be passed down through generations.

Platform for Social Commentary: Theatre often serves as a platform for social commentary and critique. It allows artists to address important issues and provoke thought and discussion on topics such as politics, social justice, and human rights.

Community Engagement: Theatre performances bring communities together and provide opportunities for collective experiences. They offer a space for people to connect, engage, and interact with each other in meaningful ways.

Support for the Arts: Recognizing Theatre Day helps to raise awareness about the importance of supporting the arts, including funding for theatrical productions, educational programs, and initiatives that promote access to the arts for all individuals.

Theatre Day celebrates the power of theatre to inspire, educate, entertain, and unite people across the globe, making it an important day to acknowledge and commemorate.

DTP would like to thank all the talented artists and passionate supporters we have had the pleasure of interacting with over the years.
