Happy New Year!
2019 was a quiet year for LambHawke Productions, but we did want to tell you about a project we completed this past year- we made a book!
This labour of love took over a year from conception to completion. In the spring of 2018, former clients came to us with the idea of digitizing their family history and creating a book to give to the members of their family. They had dozens of images and pages upon pages of compiled notes and anecdotes about their family history.
These notes were impressive, and the amount of research our clients had done on their family ancestry was incredible- they had information on their lineage dating back as far as the 1600’s! They tracked their family’s journey immigrating from Europe to Canada in the early 1900’s and today have family as far away as Australia.
Once we had the bulk of the information we needed from our clients, we got to work. We scanned every image so we had a digital collection of their photos, and Stephanie edited and restored each one. While most simply needed some quick colour correcting and cropping, some photos were very old and damaged in places. She made sure to clean them up where she could without ruining their integrity- we wanted the old photos to maintain their character!
Shannon compiled a huge family tree featuring the different branches of their family and how they weaved together over the years, from 1665 all the way to 2017 (that’s 352 years). This was no small feat ensuring all the known family members’ names and birth/death dates were included *and* have it all fit on 2 pages. To say this was a challenge is an understatement!
The result is a sleek, 110-page book divided into three chronological sections for each branch of their family tree from known beginning to present day, with lined pages at the end for family members to add further notes. We are beyond impressed by the work our clients put into documenting their family history, and very proud of our team efforts and the final product!
