Here's something you might not know: the quality of the balloons AND the skill of the balloon artist can make a huge difference in how an installation looks over time.

This particular installation was displayed for an entire month — and with very little maintenance, it continued to look beautiful. 💙

Sometimes my own kids REALLY like to test my face painting abilities. 😂🎨

They seem to be under the impression that Mom has unlimited artistic abilities, magical powers, and can paint literally ANYTHING they request.

Today’s request?

Unspeakable. 💚😂

Not a tiger. Not a rainbow. Not even a character I already have on my board.

Just, “Mom, can you paint Unspeakable?”

Sure kid… let me just activate my ✨magical face painter powers✨ and figure that one out. 😂

But honestly, I kind of love when they throw these completely random requests at me — it keeps me on my toes and apparently proves that if you hand Mom a paintbrush, she’ll at least ATTEMPT anything. 🤣🎨

I’d say this challenge turned out pretty darn cute! 💚

Now I’m almost afraid to ask what they want next… 👀

As The Balloon Chick has grown, so have the things we do! What started with a whole lot of balloons has grown to include face painting, balloon twisting, glitter, creativity and so much more — so we figured our little Chick deserved an update too. 💕

She’s still the same fun, colourful Chick you know… she’s just getting a few new tools of the trade. 🎨🎈

🦄✨ When a unicorn face paint needs a little extra MAGIC… you give it a 3D horn! ✨🦄

I absolutely LOVE how this design came together! 🌈💜 Between the bright rainbow colours, florals, shimmer, dramatic lashes and all that sparkle, there’s already a lot of magic happening — but that tiny 3D unicorn horn right in the centre takes it to another level. 😍

One of my favourite parts of face painting is finding ways to make designs feel a little more special and unexpected. These 3D details add that extra WOW factor that kids get so excited about when they finally look in the mirror! ✨

Because sometimes you don't just want to look like a unicorn…

You need the horn too. 😂🦄💕

Who says face paint has to stay on your face?! 😏

We had some fun switching things up with this full graffiti-style arm design — bold colours, chunky lettering, smoky shadows and all the street-art vibes. 🧡🖤

This is one of the things I LOVE about face painting: the possibilities are pretty much endless. Faces, arms, hands… if we can paint it, we can get creative with it!

And designs like this are especially fun for the bigger kids (and adults 😉) who want something a little different.
