Just like that, tonight’s my last trivia night.

This will be the 408th quiz that I’ve written and hosted, and I can truly say I enjoyed every single one of them. Trivia has brought me so much joy over the years and I’m proud of what Nickel City Trivia accomplished in its 7 years.

Thank you everyone who made this journey possible. I will be forever grateful for the time being your trivia host. ❤️

Hard to believe that tonight will be my second last trivia night!

When I started this in 2018, I had just moved back to Sudbury and a big part of starting NCT was to meet new people, having been away for the previous 9 years.

Needless to say, mission accomplished. I’ve met some of my closest friends, and of course my wife, through trivia. That will always be the best part of this whole experience and I couldn’t be more grateful!

Hope to see you all out at one of these last two events!

Hard to believe that I only have 3 trivia nights left!

My love for trivia stemmed from the quizzes I went to every Monday at the Morrissey House when I was in school in London. My friends and I were regulars and we regularly referred to the host as “trivia guy” and honestly, we revered him.

So the first time I saw “trivia guy” on one of my trivia sheets was such an “I made it moment” and still makes me so happy that’s part of my identity now. People will stop me from time to time in public and say they recognize me from trivia, and that’s a pretty cool feeling.

So here’s to 3 more weeks as the trivia guy! I hope to see you out there one last time. 🍻

Only 4 weeks of trivia for NCT left at the Townehouse!

This photo comes from one of my favourite stretches, when we had a trivia league prior to the pandemic. 🧠

Teams competed every week and an overall winner after a 10 week stretch was declared, and got a trophy!🏆

Team Dad Jokes, pictured here, was our inaugural winner and we had 5 seasons of the league play out during this stretch. It was a ton of fun and a part of Nickel City Trivia history I always look back on fondly.

Come celebrate all things NCT at tonight’s quiz! The spots have been filling quickly so be sure to book your spot for our last few events!

Hard to believe there are only 5 Nickel City Trivia quizzes to go!

This picture is from what was a really fun stretch, when we did trivia twice a week. The regular Tuesday at the Townehouse and then Thursdays at 46 North!

While ultimately I landed on once a week being the right amount of trivia for one person, it was such a fun time. A second location brought lots of new people to trivia and really gave me the experience of what growing NCT could look like. Thank you 46 for the opportunity and to all of you who came out to one or both of the events those fateful weeks!

Hey it's me!

Only 6 quizzes with Nickel City Trivia left and tonight's going to be a good one 🎉

I started trivia as something to do when I moved back to Sudbury. I don’t think I could have ever anticipated how much it’s come to mean to me since then. While I’m confident in my decision to step away from trivia at the end of March, I’m sure as hell going to miss it and the amazing community we’ve built along the way.

The countdown to March 25th continues with only 7 quizzes left!

This photo is from one of the many nightlife events I got to participate in at Science North. These evenings were always so fun and gave me a new opportunity to interact with our community in a different kind of way. They helped get the Nickel City Trivia name out there and for a long time, was a core part of what NCT did.

These past 7 years have been an adventure and the variety of different events and locations I got to be a part of was, and continues to be, one of my favourite parts of being a trivia host.

Thanks for the good times Sudbury 🙌🏼

This one's for the regulars.

You know who you are; the teams who come week after week, either currently or over the course of the last 7 years.

You're the ones who have kept trivia going, not just because of attendance but because we've become friends and I look forward to seeing you at the Townehouse every week. Each team's got their own inside jokes, the questions I know they'll love (or hate), and those team names you get used to seeing.

So as we countdown to the last quiz on March 25th, I want to thank my regulars, you've made trivia what it is since day one.

Down to single digits with only 9 trivia quizzes left.

The pandemic was obviously such a weird time for everyone and the transition to doing virtual quizzes was an odd one for me. When I look back on it though, what stands out is how much fun the weekly virtual quizzes were. In that time, Nickel City Trivia connected with people from literally around the world and at it's peak we had hundreds of virtual teams every week. It was really amazing to see how important the weekly virtual quiz was for people and with all things said and done, I look back on that odd stretch of trivia really fondly.

I'm immensely grateful to be doing trivia in-person again, but the virtual quizzes were a big part of those years, including a pandemic birthday trivia event that I'll never forget, even if some of it was a bit of a blur.

We're down to 10 More quizzes with Nickel City Trivia.

One of my favourite parts of hosting trivia is simply how fun it's been. I've had the opportunity to be silly, to be myself, and to have an audience who enjoys all the weird and wonderful quirks of my brand of trivia. Like the 2-month stretch when I gave out zucchini from our garden as a prize. Thank you for embracing the weird and for having fun with me all these years.

11 quizzes to go and where else but the Townehouse for this week’s countdown.

The Townehouse has been my home for trivia since 2018. So much has changed since then but having trivia on Tuesday nights at the bar has always been a constant. I’m forever grateful for the staff that are there every week, making sure that drinks and some of the best food in town are a part of your trivia night.

The Townehouse was my first pick for location when I decided I wanted to start hosting trivia and I’m glad it’s going to be where I get to do my last quiz on March 25th.
