FAMILY DAY 12 SEP @ LARCH AND ELGIN (FREE ADMISSION)
This rain-or-shine outdoor celebration transforms Larch Street between Elgin and Durham into a welcoming space for music, creativity, and community connection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Family Day features performances by outstanding local jazz musicians, children’s activities, dancing and opportunities for audiences of all ages to engage with live music. A dedicated children’s tent offers family-friendly activities.
The event showcases two outstanding Northern Ontario ensembles.
Swing Fever Octet, one of Greater Sudbury’s favourite dance bands, returns with timeless favourites and classic dance rhythms at 10 a.m. Swing Fever has entertained Sudbury-area audiences for more than three decades. It continues that tradition with band musicians Lori Laurin, Kelley Pileggi, Carolyn Otto, Peter Scherzinger, Blair McNally, Christina Bégin, Liam Keaney, and Jack Broumpton.
Performing at noon is the Northern Jazz Octet, an ensemble featuring outstanding musicians from Sudbury and North Bay. The group features Marc Taillefer, Mitch McIntyre, Mike Landoni, Carolyn Otto, Peter Scherzinger, Courtney Kirkham, Ryan Rogers, and Tony Jurgilas. The ensemble performs timeless jazz standards.
There are plenty of chairs for the audience, an area for dancing and there is no charge for this wonderful afternoon.
Family Jazz Day includes the Downtown Sudbury Yard Sale with vendors galore. Shop for bargains while enjoying the jazz bands and the kids' tent.

One of Sudbury’s favourite dance bands returns with timeless favourites. Led by Carolyn Otto, the octet has entertained audiences for more than 30 years.
Northern Jazz Octet
NOON
The Northern Jazz Octet features accomplished musicians from Sudbury and North Bay. Directed by trombonist Marc Taillefer, the group presents contemporary arrangements of classics and new jazz.
