This is adorable....and not actually that far off how I paint Performance Art! How cute is this!

A look back at an older commission: This fun painting is not my typical size....11 x 14 inches, started with grisaille technique (which is a fancy way to say "shades of grey" underpainting, ) 🤣The start is very thin acrylic, used like watercolor and "moved about" on the panel. You can see by the smears, where I have taken a stiffer, wet brush, and lifted my drawing to adjust lines. I don't worry too much at the start...I am looking for correct "negative shapes"...so for example, the line of the neck running at 5 o'clock with the front leg are ways I am checking to make sure I have the right angles. And....you have to be old enough to understand the 5 o'clock reference with the second hand...hahaa well....I'll just leave that there. Happy creating :)

Ciano was laid to rest on a beautiful fall day, after enjoying his favorite treat of oats, carrots, and molasses. He remained on the farm with us since retirement in 2013, and enjoyed good health and much love. His partner Aloha, who was previously cremated, was interred with Ciano, and it is comforting to know they are together again. It is never an easy decision, and those that know, will know how difficult yesterday, and the days leading up to it were. The last of the "A team" is now gone, and the chapter has closed on a very memorable and special time for us all. There will be many in the WPCA that still remember Ciano and we thank Ed and Billy Melville for recognizing him with an Equine Outfit of Excellence Award, as Champion Right Wheeler in 2010. Supremo was laid to rest alongside Ciano, and will be deeply missed as well. Each horse holds a special place in our hearts. 💔

An explanation: experiments and random works (not always horses) that I do for fun are often started and stopped as time allows. This fox was started in 2025 and i didn't have a feel for him...so he was stashed in the basement. I brought him out recently and decided to drag liquitex modeling paste all over him and he was going to be really contemporary. Next thing you know...the background is getting more traditional and now I am straddling between painterly realism and more playful color. Back to the basement he'll go until I magically FIND HIM again one day and go....oh hey, I should finish this! 😂 Then...there is an auction announced on the page and He'll FIND YOU! Thanks everyone...and until then...here is a close up look :)🦊🍂
