I was flipping through the latest copy of Alberta Views magazine and see a full page promoting the artwork of Raymond Theriault. Raymond has been a personal favorite 10 years before I even started the gallery. I met Raymond while we were members of the Alberta Society of Artists. I commissioned him to paint my family in one of our favorite places. I love urban scenes and Raymond is one of the best. Great to see him with a show in Edmonton. We have his work every day and often in our windows or the lobby at 214 Place. For those who live urban scapes come see what we have. Open 11-3 today.

Snow! Back in my previous life at Big Country 93.1 kept track of the first snowfall over 15 years and we kept it going. The 20ish year average for the first snowfall was Oct 3. The most common date, the same Oct 3. So we are a bit into bonus territory. Open Friday til 5:30 and Saturday 11-3

Thanksgiving. I know they are not turkeys. Turkeys aren’t always the first choice of birds artists choose to paint. Mind you, neither are chickens but they are close and we have this painting titled “Meet the Flockers” from Kristine Andrea Artist. Thanksgiving. So many things to be thankful for. One timely one is this book. Yesterday my sister sent me an email I sent her 9 years ago. I sent her this story that had just come to me and I was excited to share it. 9 years! From idea to publication. Yesterday a wonderful friend came in and bought 5 to give out. The list is long of those I am thankful for. For Phoebe Riel Hanuse ˚୨୧⋆｡˚ ⋆, who illustrated the story and in many ways is responsible for first impressions before people even get to my part. People are blown away by these illustrations. I did start up a page for the series Astina Books if you would like to follow along, book 2 is set for release in May. .

In a place where travel is measured in minutes and hours and not km or miles, I shouldn’t be surprised that we have 5 paintings of similar themes in our main gallery right now. Prairie roads fading into the horizon under large wide open skies. As we travel, we see the identity of place through the eyes of its artists. With Emily Lozeron, Missy Finley and Steve R Coffey, they capture Alberta despite making a very large triangle, Grande Prairie to Vulcan to St. Paul. 20 hrs to make the loop. 1996 km.
