In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we’d like to share the Faceless Doll Project and its message of remembrance and healing. The Faceless Doll Project came about through a collaboration between the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre Pikiskwetan Mental Health program and Wahkotowin Seniors program, initiated in response to the discovery of 215 unmarked graves at the Kamloops Indian Residential School in May 2021. The dolls were exhibited at the Gallery in January - February 2025.

Last September, we collaborated with the Friendship Centre to build a permanent installation for the dolls, which is located in the Friendship Centre Traditional Healing Garden, with support from the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation “Na-mi-quai-ni-mak (I remember them)” Grant. The dolls and their ongoing presence in the Garden remind us every day of the ongoing process of reconciliation and of addressing the harm of colonialism in this country.

This year, the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre is hosting an Orange Shirt Day - 5KM Walk/Run in honour of the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. See you there tonight, link in bio for details.

After 21 years, the Prairie North Artist Residency returned to the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie this summer, bringing artists Scott Bertram and Les Ramsay to the Peace Region for a season of creativity and exchange.

Working out of the NWP Fine Arts Department Studio, Scott and Les spent the summer developing new work that you’ll soon be able to experience right here at the Gallery.

The pieces they created during their residency will be featured in our fall exhibitions, opening October 15. Scott Bertram’s work will be featured in Shape of Shape, while Les Ramsay’s new work will be featured in Elsewhere, Else.

We’re excited to share what they created and to welcome you back to the Gallery this fall.

Join AGGP on Friday, October 9 at the Grande Prairie Live Theatre for a reading by artist and poet Zachari Logan who will be reading from his 2025 collection of ekphrastic poetry, Green! We’re grateful to partner with Grande Prairie Pride Society to present this event.

Logan’s solo exhibition, On the Green Grass, With Sighing and Delight, opens along with our other fall exhibitions on Thursday, October 15 at 6:00pm at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. Please join us to celebrate AGGP’s reopening following 9 months of closure and renovations.

Wait’s almost over: we are reopening our doors!

After several months of renovations, we are excited to welcome the community back on Thursday, October 15, 2026 for our Grand Reopening.
