🚍 Community Transportation update!

Our Community Bus has taken a brief pit stop for a few repairs. While it's getting the care it needs, we're using an SUV to keep the service running.

Here's what that means for now:
• Capacity is limited to 3 passengers per trip.
• Wheelchair-accessible transportation is temporarily unavailable.

Please call the Grande Cache Recreation Centre at 780.827.2446 to book your spot or to learn more about the temporary arrangements.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we get the Community Bus back on the road. We'll update this post as soon as we have more information to share.

Wildwood Cooking is back by popular demand! Get ready to cook, explore, and learn in the great outdoors! In this exciting two-hour program, youth will build valuable outdoor cooking skills while learning important campfire and cooking safety along the way. With guided instruction and safety measures in place, it’s a fun and welcoming space to try new skills and gain confidence. Wildwood Cooking is all about the adventure of making tasty camp-style meals together in nature. You’ll practice thinking on your toes, work as a team, and discover how simple ingredients can turn into delicious outdoor creations. Best of all, it’s a chance to make unforgettable summer memories around the “camp kitchen”!

This program is in partnership with Grande Cache Recreation Centre & the BEST program.

• August 10 & 24, 2026 – Grande Cache Lake

The August Program Calendar is here, and we’re excited to welcome another adventure-filled summer month at the Grande Cache Tourism & Interpretive Centre!

☀️Our summer lineup is packed with fun and discovery. Explore another magical month in the Fairy Forest, get creative in the kitchen with Wildwood Cooking, and take on Flood Mountain on August 30 as the final peak in our 3 Peaks, 1 Summer hiking series.

☀️Families can also continue the adventure on local trails with Little Boots, Big Roots, our brand-new hiking program offered in partnership with The BEST Program.

☀️Be sure to join us for our End of Summer Celebration on August 25 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Firemen’s Pit. Enjoy s’more making, hot dog roasting, bubbles, storytelling, and park play. All families are welcome to this fun summer send-off—free with a donated canned good.

🔥🍕 Wildwood Cooking is heating up!

We've already had two incredible days around the campfire, learning essential outdoor skills while creating some seriously delicious treats! So far our young chefs have explored:

🔥 Fire safety
🐻 Bear safety
🌿 Respecting the land and Leave No Trace principles
🍕 Campfire pizza
🥖 Bannock cooked over the fire
🍪 Deep-fried cookie dough
🍫 Classic s'mores and other tasty campfire treats!

Oh and some even have learned how to skip rocks for the first time!

But the adventure isn't over yet! Join us for our two remaining Wildwood Cooking sessions on August 10 & August 24 at Grande Cache Lake. Designed for ages 10–17, this hands-on outdoor program is the perfect way to build confidence, learn valuable wilderness cooking skills, make new friends, and enjoy some unforgettable campfire creations.
