Saugeen Shores Police took a call regarding a motor vehicle that had struck a fire hydrant on Saugeen Beach Road which was causing severe flooding to several cottages in the area. Witnesses reported that the male driver had taken off from the scene in his vehicle.
A licence plate was obtained from witnesses and an registered owner was identified. Police attended the address of the registered owner to locate the driver. While at the address the vehicle was observed approaching on the roadway. The vehicle saw police and began to accelerate away.
Police were able to initiate a traffic stop and as a result of the incident a 29-year-old male of Waterloo, ON has been charged with the following offences:
1. Dangerous Operation MV
2. Fail to Remain
3. Operation while Impaired
4. Operation while Impaired - Over 80
5. Drive While Prohibited
6. Fail to Comply Release Order
He was held in custody for a Bail Hearing and remanded into custody with a future court date.
