I am an Indigenous Jeweler that fabricates one of a kind indigenous (Blackfoot) jewelry art from semi-precious stones and precious metals. The process includes lapidary (cutting and polishing of stones) art and the fabrication of precious metal. I would like to extend this art form to one to three visitors that would like to learn, view or tour my workshop/studio. This experience would include a t
our of the ammonite mine sites, lapidary techniques and in the making of a simple piece of jewelry such as a pendant. This basic education can be from one to three days depending on the visitor's interest in fabricating jewelry, timelines and resources. This beginner silversmith and lapidary course will include the use of tools and equipment, the cost of this course is $200 per day. The cost of materials will depend on what jewelry is made by the student and is dependent on metal quantity and stone choice, supply cost could be from about $35 to $150 or more depending on the quality of the stone. Included would be either a traditional or contemporary lunch meal. There is also the opportunity to purchase jewelry that I have created or arts and crafts from the local artisans that I have chosen to display their art at my studio. Visitors that are not interested in making jewelry are welcome by appointment to visit our workshop for a tour and explanation of how the stones are gathered, polished and how the metal is fabricated, to see the final product and to be able to make a purchase. There would be no limits to the amount of people as long as it is during working hours. There is ample parking and can also accommodate overnight travel trailers for those wishing to take a 2 or 3 day course. I am presently working on the possibility of having small structures that would accommodate overnight stays. The hours that we would like to be open would be from 9 AM to 4 PM Wednesday to Friday with some flexibility and weekends by appointment.
