🚗 OUR 24-DAY CANADIAN ROAD TRIP 🇨🇦
After 24 days on the road, thousands of kilometres, many cups of coffee, a few unexpected adventures, and lots of beautiful memories, here’s a little look at our trip across Canada!
🛣️ THE NUMBERS
🚗 Distance travelled: 12,879 km
🗺️ Provinces visited: 9
British Columbia → Alberta → Saskatchewan → Manitoba → Ontario → Quebec → New Brunswick → Prince Edward Island → Nova Scotia
💰 WHAT DID IT COST?
⛽ Gas — $2,600
🥦 Groceries — $400
☕ Restaurants & coffee shops — $890
⛺ Campgrounds — $285
🏨 Motels — $125
🎟️ Museums, entertainment & parking — $450
Total: approximately $4,750
⛺ WHERE DID WE SLEEP?
We kept accommodation very simple and inexpensive:
🚗 12 nights — in the car, at Walmart parking lots or rest stops
⛺ 5 nights — campgrounds
🏨 1 night — motel
❤️ 3 nights — with my godfather in Toronto
❤️ 2 nights — with my daughter in Edmonton
So yes… 17 nights sleeping in or around the car! 😄
🎨 PAINTING ALONG THE WAY
One of the most important parts of the trip for me was continuing to paint.

Because for me, travelling and painting just seem to belong together.

🏖️ Favourite beach: Prince Edward Island
🍁 One of the biggest surprises:
How incredibly beautiful it is to drive through the Canadian Prairies. The endless skies, open fields and changing landscapes were something we really enjoyed.
❤️ THE SPECIAL MOMENTS
One of the most meaningful parts of the trip was reuniting with my godfather and spending time with family.
After so many kilometres and so many new places, those moments were among the ones we will remember the most.
😂 THE REALITY OF ROAD-TRIPPING
Of course, not everything went according to plan! There were funny moments, unexpected situations, long driving days, tired mornings and plenty of stories that will probably make us laugh for years.
And that’s part of the adventure. ❤️
💡 WHAT WOULD WE DO DIFFERENTLY?
After travelling almost 13,000 km in 24 days, we definitely learned a few things about road-tripping across Canada.
Next time, we would probably slow down, spend more time in fewer places, and leave ourselves a little more time to explore instead of always watching the kilometres!
But would we do it again?
Absolutely. 🇨🇦❤️
