Congratulations to the JL Screenwriting Education Bursary Recipients!

The Jane LeBlanc Legacy Fund is pleased to celebrate the recipients of the JL Screenwriting Education Bursary, presented through the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick’s annual writing competition.

This bursary supports screenwriters through approved educational activities that advance learning, craft development, and skill-building in screenwriting.

Recipients are selected through the WFNB competition process and the first place winner can access Jane LeBlanc Legacy Fund bursary support for an eligible learning activity reviewed and approved by the Fund.

AI doesn’t experience human emotions or experiences which is where all art forms are derived from. Whether it’s filmmaking, tattoos, photography, painting, music, wood working, sewing, whatever the craft, it’s all based on our individual experiences. Typing a prompt into a computer is NOT creativity, AI pulls from pre-existing human made images, rearranges the pixels and spits out a sloppy mess. And, it’s terrible for the environment. Just training an AI to create your slop is said to have consumed 700,000 litres of freshwater! (That’s 184,920.45 gallons). There are many more reasons why it’s more important now than ever to keep humans in creative spaces and support your local artists!
