The next session of our Adult Improv Drop-In series is this Sunday, Oct 25!

These drop-in improv jam sessions are a casual space for improvisers of all levels to hone their skills, connect with the community, and most importantly: to have fun!

Facilitated by our Theatre School Director Alex Rioux, the co-creator of the award-winning improv/theatre hybrid TILT. Participants will be led through a warm and a series of games in a fun supportive environment.

Sessions run the last Sunday of every month from 6pm-8pm at TNB’s Open Space Theatre. No sign-up required and entry is by donation on arrival! For more information email [email protected]

Meet the cast of To Every Thing There is a Season!

Benjamin Smith (he/him) is a theatre artist, director, and educator originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick. A proud product of Theatre New Brunswick’s Theatre School, he holds an MFA in Directing from the University of Alberta and a BA (Honours) from St. Thomas University.

Now based in Edmonton, Ben teaches in the BFA Music Theatre Performance program at MacEwan University. He is excited to return to his old stomping grounds, making his TNB debut with the company that first sparked his love of theatre.

Next Friday October 23, our Theatre School Director, Alex Rioux is presenting "Collective Collaboration Principles and Exploration" at the Saint John Arts Centre as part of the Theatrical Arts Education Association - TAEA 2026 National Drama Teachers’ Conference!

Participants will explore a variety of theatre games and exercises designed to break down barriers, foster collaboration, and help students develop a strong sense of ensemble. This workshop is intended for new and experienced drama teachers looking to add more activities to their repertoire.

In theatre we are not simply guiding individuals toward success, we are building a team that learns to trust, support, and depend on one another. Our goal as instructors is to make an environment where students feel comfortable taking creative risks, supporting one another, and working together as a true ensemble.
