It's a quiet one at The Cultural Centre this long weekend. πŸ‚

With the 199th Fredericton Exhibition about to get underway next door and summer winding down before school is back in session, things are calm around here β€” a nice pause before a busy fall.

We're open this weekend, though hours vary by tenant, so please check directly with the organization you're visiting for their schedule.

A quick heads-up: with the Fredericton Exhibition nearby, parking on site is very limited this weekend. Please plan ahead if you're stopping by.

We'll also be closed on Monday, September 7 as we celebrate Labour Day with our community.

Wishing everyone a restful long weekend β€” see you when the fall season kicks off! πŸ’™

Heads up if you're heading our way over the next couple of weeks! 🚧

Starting tomorrow, you may notice fencing going up around The Cultural Centre. It's that time of year again β€” the Fredericton Exhibition is getting ready for its annual run, and the setup happens right around us.

Good news: The Cultural Centre and all of our tenant organizations remain open and welcoming throughout. The main thing to keep in mind is that parking will be limited until the exhibition wraps up on September 13th.

If you're visiting us or one of our tenant organizations during this stretch, we'd suggest giving yourself a little extra time to find a spot. Thanks so much for your patience β€” and enjoy the buzz the Fredericton Exhibition brings to our corner of the city! 🎑

A note for our community πŸ’™

You may have seen recent news about the future of the Exhibition Grounds and the lands around our neighbourhood. Since then, a lot of people have reached out with the same question: what does this mean for The Cultural Centre?

The short answer β€” nothing changes for us.

The Cultural Centre owns both our building and the land at 28 Saunders Street, and this remains our home. We continue to operate here, serve our community here, and plan for the future here.

The Cultural Centre remains open, active, and ready to welcome you β€” the same spaces, the same programs, the same partners, and the same warm front door that has been part of this community for years.

While the neighbourhood around us may evolve, our commitment to the community remains the same. We will continue to provide a place where people can gather, celebrate culture, share ideas, host events, build connections, and feel at home.

Change can bring questions and uncertainty, and we understand why people may be wondering what the future holds. For The Cultural Centre, our focus remains right here at 28 Saunders Street, where we intend to continue serving our community for years to come.

Neighbourhoods grow and change, and ours is no exception. Through all of it, we'll remain what we've always been: a welcoming home for gathering, culture, and connection in the heart of Fredericton's west end. πŸ’™

5 Things You Didn't Know About The Cultural Centre πŸ’™

We're more than a building in the west end of downtown Fredericton β€” we're a space built for community. Here are five things that might surprise you:

1️⃣ We're a not-for-profit. When you book with us, you're supporting a community hub that provides affordable spaces for cultural and community organizations across Greater Fredericton.

2️⃣ We're Rainbow Registered. Our certification reflects our commitment to being an accountable space β€” welcoming, inclusive, and respectful for everyone who walks through our doors.

3️⃣ Your event, your team. We have no supplier exclusives. Choose any caterer, decorator, or supplier you like β€” the day is yours to shape.

4️⃣ We have room to grow into. Our 3,700 sq ft Multipurpose Room can host anything from a 30-person workshop to a 300+ guest celebration, and our 375 sq ft boardroom is perfect for meetings and training sessions.

5️⃣ We make it easy. Ample on-site parking just steps from the front door, affordable rates for non-profits, businesses, and cultural groups, and a welcoming, accessible location.

From boardrooms to large event halls, The Cultural Centre is your go-to for event rentals in Fredericton that are welcoming, accessible, and community-driven.

When a space can do double duty, that's when you know it works. πŸ“‹

This week, our boardroom became a training room. The Cultural Centre and Liberty Lane teamed up for Intermediate First Aid training and certification through the Heart & Stroke NB β€” and the room handled every part of it.

The group moved seamlessly from the classroom presentation into hands-on practical exercises, all without leaving the room. Projector and screen for the lesson, plenty of table space to spread out, and space to get up and practise the skills that matter most.

Our boardroom seats up to 25 and comes equipped with a projector, screen and Bluetooth speaker. It's available seven days a week β€” ideal for workshops, training sessions, meetings and more.

Looking for a space that adapts to how you work? The boardroom is now available to book.

A New Set of Keys, A Longer Table πŸ”‘β€οΈ

Some stories deserve to be told slowly, and Leanne Wiens has told hers beautifully.

After more than 16 years, Leanne has made the heartfelt decision to close LJW Catering Group β€” and we are deeply honoured that she has chosen The Cultural Centre to carry her space, and her vision, into its next chapter.

If you've ever gathered around a table Leanne helped set, you already know: she never simply served meals. She served stories. She created connections. She made room for everyone β€” newcomers, women, and individuals of all abilities all found a place at her table. That spirit of belonging is exactly what we hope to protect and grow.

We're proud to share that this remarkable Class 5 kitchen will live on as The Cultural Community Kitchen β€” a welcoming space for catering, cooking classes, teaching and learning, culturally diverse cuisine, and the simple, powerful act of bringing people together. More on this at a later date.

Leanne, thank you for building something so full of care, and for trusting us to keep the lights on and the table long. We promise to honour the legacy you created here in Fredericton β€” one shared meal, one story, one connection at a time.

We invite you to read Leanne's own words below. They say it best. πŸ’™

Our 3,700 sq ft Multipurpose Room is made for exactly this kind of day β€” plenty of room to move, collaborate, and connect.

The photos here are from a previous teambuilding session we hosted with Level Up Teambuilding β€” a great glimpse of the energy our space brings to a gathering like this.

To the Capital Region Integration Network team: we can't wait to host you. Here's to a wonderful day of connection and collaboration! πŸ’™

A busy, community-filled week under our roof! πŸ›οΈ

Here's a look at who's gathering at The Cultural Centre this week:

πŸ“… Thursday β€” A double bill: the Bangladeshi-Canadian Association of New Brunswick gathers in the evening, and Zumba with Rachel Mills gets everyone moving.

πŸ“… Friday β€” The Bangladeshi-Canadian Association of New Brunswick returns for a full day of community connection.

πŸ“… Saturday β€” The Capital Region Integration Network brings its Immigrant Advisory Council together for a teambuilding session.

πŸ“… Sunday β€” RoboFlight Summer Camp wraps up the week with young builders and problem-solvers.
