πŸͺΆ The Sitansisk / St. Mary's First Nation Powwow is nearly here!

From June 19–21, the community is invited to St. Mary's Old Reserve (534 Union Street) for the 26th Annual Powwow β€” a weekend to connect with the voices and traditions of the Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) people through music, dance, and ceremony.

Special Update: Sitansisk 26th Powwow
Due to unpredictable weather conditions, wet ground, and concerns for the safety of our dancers, Elders, and all attendees, the Powwow Committee has decided to relocate the Sitansisk 26th Powwow to Willie O'Ree Place, located at 605 Cliffe Street.
Please note: The powwow schedule remains unchanged.
Across the weekend you can explore 75+ vendors and artisans, savour a variety of traditional and non-traditional foods, and witness an extremely talented lineup of dancers and drum groups.

Grand Entry is Saturday at 1:00 PM and Sunday at 12:00 PM, with the Powwow Pitch & Social kicking things off Friday evening.

Everyone is welcome β€” please come with respect for the land, the people, and their ways. Drugs and alcohol are not permitted on the powwow grounds.

We have some wonderful news to share from Ottawa.

On June 10th, our CEO Jeff Foster accepted the Mark Wafer Award for Business Excellence from the CASE - Canadian Association for Supported Employment , presented at their national conference.

We're especially grateful to our colleagues at , who nominated The Cultural Centre for this award and were on hand in Ottawa to celebrate alongside us. Their belief in our work means a great deal.

This award recognizes organizations that employ people experiencing disability in meaningful, competitively paid roles β€” and that understand inclusion as a genuine source of strength, not an afterthought.

For us, this honour reflects something at the very heart of who we are. The Cultural Centre exists to create welcoming spaces and inclusive events that celebrate the diversity of our community. That belief shapes our programming, our partnerships, and the way we build our own team.

We're deeply proud of the people who make this Centre what it is, and grateful to both the Canadian Association for Supported Employment and AvenueNB for championing inclusive employment across our province and country.

Here's to building a community where everyone belongs β€” and has the chance to contribute.
