When I was younger I used to watch taped off Bob Ross episodes on VHS that my cousin let me borrow (my cousin is an incredible oil painter btw ð). So I sorta went back to my roots with this one. When I moved out west about a decade ago for a short period I ended up working in a frame store. It was a fitting spot for me really. I loved being there and getting to admire all the great work and helping to make it leave its very best impression. During my time there I came across a very large framed photograph of a night scene with the water cascading off the rocks and back into the ocean. I tried to recreate the feeling that photograph gave me with this painting. In many ways this painting reminds me of my journey. Many times in my life I've emerged doing something new. Trying a new job, a new hobby, new distractions. Each time making a splash but then ultimately just returning to the sameness of the ocean. A comfort zone if you will. Now i'm not saying theres anything wrong with trying lots of different things. But sometimes I think it might be important to ride that wave just a little further. If you're still reading this, I love you all. You can see this one in person at the tomorrow! Enjoy!! ð
