Happy Canada Day weekend!🍁
I started mine with a great big studio day after an eventful week; I got a new day job, and made progress toward two big surprises coming up!
✨..But I can't share either yet.
So here's a pendant in the meantime! This one's at AX: The Arts & Culture Centre of Sussex and there'll be some new ones on my website later this summer.

I'll share some news this time next week! Cheers to whatever you're up to this weekend!

Things have been blossoming in the studio
🌼🌷🌻🌿
Introducing New Growth; inspired by the way architecture, such as old cemetery fences, become lavishly overgrown with flowers and greenery when left untouched. The beauty of this is mirrored in the organic process I use; applying the colors in a slow, intentional way. The result is a one-of-a-kind keepsake, sharing a peaceful moment of creation with the wearer.

These pieces are created using the ancient technique of cloisonné, in which thin strips of wire are shaped and placed on the surface of metal. Finely ground pigmented glass – called vitreous enamel – is then melted onto the surface between the wires, fusing the parts together. The enamel is painted on with a brush and fused in many thin layers to build up the colour.

I feel like a true elf. This is my favorite time of year in the studio... but I say that multiple times a year 😆
I just love making things, and although I prefer a blanket of snow outside, the atmosphere has been as jolly as ever in here.

Thank you, everyone, for the support you've shown me in various ways this year. It's always truly appreciated.

Now, it's time to put down the tools for a second and soak in the holidays. 😌

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Whatever you're doing this week, I wish you the most enjoyment possible. See you in 2024!

This year I had the privilege to explore the ancient technique of cloisonné, in which finely ground pigmented glass (or "vitreous enamel") is applied between thin strips of wire, and then fused together. The colour is built up in many thin layers until complete. It's essentially painting with glass, and I couldn't have had more fun with it!

This pendant, which is 1" in diameter, is the beginning of a new collection of colourful jewellery inspired by the overlap of ironwork and nature. I've been inspired by the way architecture (think of old cemetery fences) can be overgrown with flowers and greenery when left untouched.

This is the first finished piece in this collection, and it's now available at Gallery 78.
