This position plays an important role in supporting our Membership Program and strengthening connections across Wood Buffalo’s arts community. Working closely with our Engagement Manager, the Engagement Coordinator helps ensure members feel welcomed, informed, and supported.

Sure humidity can cause issues with wood, but have you ever considered what it does to your electronics? The lack of ambient humidity combined with you contacting the PVC pickguard on your instrument can wreak havoc in the form of static discharge. Shielding can make a huge difference, reducing noise, and taming the RF interference in our increasingly WiFi world!

As a long time member of ACWB, and a long time artist in our region, I am glad to see this support and investment in the arts in Wood Buffalo. I’ve never believed in the perceived funding competition between art and sport, or any other activity that happens here, but the disparity in funding has often told a different story. Kudos to Mayor Sandy Bowman, and Council, for committing municipal resources to developing this community asset that will serve to enrich the lives of current and future residents. Congratulations to Liana Wheeldon, and staff, and board chair, Will Collins, along with the rest of the board, for the drive and commitment to bring this project to life! To all of the artists who showed up in chambers to speak to the motion, you give me hope for the future of art in our region. Thank you all!

Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo’s Arts INCubator (Arts INC) is moving forward after Mayor and Council unanimously approved the purchase of the property and a $16.9M investment to bring this project to life.

Arts INC will transform the former downtown cinema into the region’s first purpose-built arts facility, a vibrant hub for creativity, recreation, community gatherings, and economic growth. Operated by Arts Council Wood Buffalo, this social enterprise will contribute to the sustainability of arts in Wood Buffalo.

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of the RMWB and our incredible partners. Together, we’re building a home for the arts that will strengthen our creative economy and enhance the lives of everyone who calls this region home.
