It may seem strange for me to share this post … as a dance school owner, I should be pushing dance, Dance, DANCE right? But as a lover of the arts… I think there is a place for everyone in dance for as long (or as short) as you want to dance. For as seriously or as for-fun that you want to do it! 💃❤️💃
What’s wrong with dancing for fun and not meeting your “FULL POTENTIAL”??? We will never reach our full potential in everything we take up: I could have been a better painter, a better singer, a better gymnast. Does that mean my time in art class, or gymnastics was wasted? Of course not!!
There is a space in dance for FUN (I would argue, it should be the only important thing) Some dancers will dedicate themselves, practice for hours and attend multiple classes a week. But their time isn’t any more or less valuable than the dancers who come once a week to enjoy some time with friends in music and dance.
My job, as a teacher, is to provide the opportunity for dancers to receive quality dance education in a positive and fun environment. But it is not my job to JUDGE what path my students chose towards personal success - however that looks for them.
Tonight, we will delight with dancers who have chosen to put in time and hard work, and who have made sacrifices in order to be able to dance with the incredible Ennis Sisters!
In a short few weeks, on June 7th we will celebrate the accomplishments of ALL our dancers at our year-end recital! The stage belongs to all of us.
