We continue to be proud of our Canadian Legion, the veterans of the WW2 and Afghanistan, Ukraine and other conflicts in this changing world. Thank you for all the key advocacy and your huge support. We love you.
The Royal Canadian Legion welcomes the release of Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy and its recognition that timely procurement, operational readiness, and domestic capacity are essential to national security.
For many years, the Legion has called for meaningful improvements to defence procurement to ensure members of the Canadian Armed Forces have the equipment and support they need to serve safely and effectively. While this strategy outlines important priorities, its success will ultimately be measured by results — not intentions.
The Legion also believes that a renewed, comprehensive defence policy is essential to provide clear benchmarks and metrics against which progress can be assessed.
Canadians, including Veterans and their families, have seen multiple commitments to procurement reform over the years. Real progress will require clear timelines, sustained leadership, and transparent accountability to ensure that equipment reaches those who serve when they need it.
The Legion will continue to advocate for concrete action that strengthens Canada’s military and supports the wellbeing of those who serve and those who have served.
