It’s been a week since I participated in the Pelham Art Show along with 90 other artists. A thank you to the organizers of this event as I know a lot of volunteers are involved in this show and a lot of work goes into it.
I’m very grateful for all the connections I made over that weekend, the wonderful conversations I had with so many people and my many new followers. It’s really what I enjoy most about these shows.
I’m also grateful and honoured to have received the People’s Choice Award. This means a lot to me as it came from the many people who attended this show and connected with my work.
Multiple people told me that my artwork made them “Happy” and it is very satisfying to me that so many viewers had that positive emotional reaction to my work.
Thank you!

Now in its 39th year the Pelham Art Festival continues to celebrate art, support artists, and give back to the community. Since 1985, they have raised over $560,000 in support of the Lincoln Pelham Public Libraries, student art scholarships, and local arts initiatives.
It’s been a great weekend event so far and I really enjoy discussing my art and the process behind it with visitors and I am so inspired by all the amazing work by the other 90 artists. The show is still on for one more day at the Meridian Community Centre in Fonthill. Visit the link for more info.

The Passion
12” x 16” oil on stretched canvas

I originally painted this when I was a teenager taking private oil painting classes along with other students on Saturday mornings with Alice Hood in the basement of a framing shop in Welland, ON. Since that time many, many years ago I have painted an updated and much better version of it and now post it every year on Good Friday. It’s an emotionally powerful painting that isn’t for everyone but brings me a sense of peace in a very personal way.

Completed this painting of Stan Drulia who grew up in Fort Erie and played 126 games in the NHL. This was commissioned by Heritage Arts Legacy ( HAL ) of Fort Erie, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Fort Erie’s rich arts, culture, and sports history, notably through its gallery and research center at the Fort Erie Leisureplex.

This image will be cut out and displayed beside many other life-size renderings of Fort Erie’s sports heroes that surround the Kinsmen rink at the Fort Erie Leisureplex. There are currently 18 athletes represented on the wall, 8 of which I painted between 2007 - 2018. Some notable athletes are NHL players Pierre Pilote, Ed Chadwick and Tom Reid and CFL player Sandy Annunziata but many other local sports athletes are represented as well. Other talented local artists have also contributed to this ongoing project.
