The members of the Men’s Chorus and Ladies’ Vocal Jazz are participating in the Okotoks Parade of Garage Sales today! Head on over to 51 Sheep River Drive to find your treasure and grab some lunch or a warm drink on this dreary day! All proceeds go directly to support bringing beautiful music to the Foothills!

🌌 The piece that inspired this weekend’s concert is “We Can Mend the Sky” by composer Jake Runestad. His sister, a middle school English teacher of East African immigrants, had her students write poems about their experiences leaving their homeland and starting over in a new country. Jake chose a poem written by 14 year old Warda Mohamed from Somalia and two Somali proverbs as inspiration for this composition. The song moves through a variety of emotions from a sense of urgency in the face of danger to a celebratory relief that anything, no matter how broken, can be mended.

🎶 We hope you will join us this week at Okotoks Alliance Church on Friday at 7:30 pm or Saturday at 3 pm.

FPS Board and Musical directors got together yesterday to plan out upcoming seasons, choose dates, discuss fundraising and future growth of FPS. It takes so much volunteer time outside of rehearsals to make these things happen!

Bringing an optimistic outlook on tough times, as only Dolly can, this piece fits in perfectly with our “We Can Mend the Sky” repertoire.
