Join us at Fogo Clay Studio for a talk with visiting clay teacher Jessica Steinhauser on the remarkable world of Kachelofen, centuries-old European ceramic masonry heaters known for their beauty, efficiency, and clean-burning warmth.

Jessica is the only person in North America making these extraordinary heaters, and she’ll share the history of the technology, how they work, and why they still matter today. Kachelofen burn hot and clean, store heat in clay and masonry, and release a steady radiant warmth for hours — using less wood while helping improve indoor and outdoor air quality.

This is a rare chance to learn about a living clay tradition that is both ancient and urgently relevant.

Come hear Jessica’s story and discover what clay, fire, and smart design can do.

We have had a last minute cancellation for our wildly popular Naomi Clement workshop which is coming up quickly, Jun 7 - 13. It's a Workshop Only space and if you're interested we can help you find accommodation. Want to push your work in new directions? Naomi will guide you in exploring slab-building techniques and surface decoration as launching points for experimentation. An absolute must-experience!

🌊 Unplug. Create. Connect. 🔗

There are still a few spaces left for our one-week pottery retreats on Fogo Island, Newfoundland this year, where the wild North Atlantic meets your creativity.
Spend six nights in a beautiful island home, enjoy five days of hands-on workshops with inspiring instructors, and share nourishing, thoughtfully prepared meals by Chef Ian.

No experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.

Come for the clay. Stay for the connection.
