I’m trying something different for this blanket. It’s from my production collection in college that was inspired by berry fields. I’ve wanted to play with appliqués on blankets for a bit and thought I’d try a little heart with a wooden button that says handmade with love. I don’t think the button will stay but I’m unsure about the heart

Whilst doing some pick up double weave samples, I thought I would try only picking up 1 layer instead of both. The image isn’t as clear but I like the subtlety. I ended up with this nice little bookmark

I LEARNED A NEW TECHNIQUE!!! Clearly still need some work BUT now I understand how to weave. Double weave pickup or Finnweave are the 2 main names I have found this technique under. I used 4/8 cotton even though I’m pretty sure most weavers who do this are using 2/8. I choose the design I did because it’s the logo of my high school and the written pattern I tried using was for their local school sport team. I love the idea of making personalized weaving items and can’t wait to get better at this new to me technique!
