We are obsessed with these pictures!

Recital is always a time of reflection and this year we saw so many little and then grown pictures of our dancers.

This one got us though. Not just one dancer but 2 showing their friendship through life and dance. Wee baby peanuts to delightful young women.

Not only do we teach great dance technique, we foster, support and help these relationships flourish.

SPSD is more than just a dance studio. We are a community.

Join our community this summer or fall and some see what we are all about.

No judgement but Adaline is wondering if you’ve registered for Summer classes yet? 😉

We’ve been away from the studio for a whole week now and I’ve received several emails about dancers who are missing dance, their friends and the studio.

Guess what? You can come back in July and reconnect and dance!!!

Uh oh… our Lost and Found is overflowing after the recital!

If you misplaced anything this past weekend (or during the year as there is a lot of stuff in this box…) I will be at the studio tomorrow (Thursday) from 330-5. Come on in and take a look. There is a brand new yoga jacket, shoes, backpacks, video games and more water bottles (including the expensive Yetis) than I thought possible.

Your things miss you.

In the excitement of last night, the goodbyes and thank yous and tears and hugs I forgot to thank someone.

Not just someone… THE someone that stands by me, supports me, works as hard at the recital as any of the rest of us.

My husband and partner - Mr Kevin.

Kevin does all the things behind the scenes that make both the recital and the studio run. Without him there would be no SPSD.

Kevin created and manages the website, all those things on that site that help make the recital, registration and everything in between run as smoothly as it does is because of him.

Her does any of the maintenance, changes, carpentry and more at the studio. I couldn’t have it looking the way I do without him. All those new floors this year? That’s him.

He puts up and takes down the tents (no easy feat - they are sooo heavy and awkward), he cleans up, he gets everything ready for the next show, he plays all the music, but most of all and most importantly …

He supports me. He’s my sounding board, the one I go to when I’m having a bad day and the one I go to when I’m having a good day. He’s my person.

I wish I could go back in time and say all this to him at the recital itself but I cannot - so I will say it here.

Thank you Mr. Kevin. For everything you do for SPSD, the dance families and most importantly for me.

Family.

The word I heard the most this weekend and probably the word I used the most this weekend.

This is a unique business. We don’t create something tangible but we do create something equally as important. We create relationships, memories and of course, great dancers.

These young people grow up to fully launch into the world as productive, enterprising humans and we take great pride and honour in being a part of that journey.

I know it was said a thousand times this weekend but thank you. Thank you for your support, your kindness, your help and for allowing us the honour of being a small part of your dancer’s life journey.

It’s important and we know and accept the challenge.

Dance is Home. This could not have been a more fitting gift. These 3 words encompassed this recital weekend completely.

Thank you for the gift, Bella. I will treasure it always.
