Good Morning Fibre Peeps!

Hope you weathered yesterday’s storm safe and sound - and dry! It was a good night to sit in, watch the lightening and torrent of rain while knitting on a simple project. But today calls for rainbows! So here’s a little peek at some squishy, rainbowy treats that we’ll bring to the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters' Guild Fair on September 12 at the Aud, in Kitchener. We would like to say goodbye to our friend’s storefront - String Theory Yarn Shop. We have collaborated, worked together, supported each other through so many ideas, projects and events….your store will sorely be missed. Your presence downtown is a loss to us all in Fergus and the fibre community as a whole.

You have helped us so many times, have been a community hub and makers haven - I loved coming in and seeing all the possibilities waiting to happen…along with your smiling face. It was a joy to have Fergus Yarn Co yarn hanging on your walls….and a greater joy to build a lifelong friendship.

Downtown will be less bright without you there.

The doors at Fergus Yarn Co are always open to you and we hope to support String Theory in whatever new endeavour you embark upon - September 26 may be your last day in Fergus, but we are forever friends.

Gooooood Morning Fibre Peeps!

I just wanted you all to know that you are one of my greatest sources of inspiration! Honestly, thank you so much…just brimming with great ideas!

One of our fibre friends really wanted to make University Stripey Socks…so we took the official colours of Guelph and Waterloo and woohoo! We’ve got a skein of Warrior and Gryphon ready to go! I loved this so much that I made extra skeins for my university kid…and extras for yours!!!

I’m now working on some Western Mustang skeins, as well, for another friend (as word travel fast!) - and next, we’re gonna get going on some McMaster skeins for our family’s cheerleader! Yayyyyyy Fibre Team! Gimmie a W! Gimmie an O! Gimmie an OL…..WOOOOOOOL!

(These will be available at the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters' Guild Fair on Sept 12! And come on out and chat wool - talking to you is the backbone of the creative process.)

The kids sometimes say they’ve lost their living room to yarn…I’d say we just found my Happy Place! After being off for a while with a shoulder injury, it’s good to get back and rebuild!

This week some Yarnies visited and shopped (by appointment) at the Fergus Yarn Co show room. It’s great to see them and we can’t wait to see all of you at the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters' Guild fair in September 12…and bring our Happy Place to you!

Mmmmmmm, practically Sweater Weather my Fibre Friends!

That cool, crisp morning air…sleeping with the windows open - I can pretend it’s autumn already!!! My favourite time of year!

So, in honour of the fall to come, I’ve dyed up my NEWBORO PUMPKINS on 80/20 SW Merino sock (I also have it on 100% SW Merino Worsted). This colourway was made a short while ago when I went on the most fabulous retreat ever - a quaint fishing lodge in autumn, surrounded by loons, herons and nature. There were knitting boat rides, sunset waterfront knit/crochet alongs and so much laughter that only a crochet/knit crowd can have. Anyways, I made this colourway for the Sheepover Retreats in Newboro and have fond memories every time I look at it. Friends made, projects finished, coffees by sunrise in the docks….

I felt like bringing it out for the first signal that autumn is on the horizon - the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters' Guild Fair - would be apropos. I hope to see you there on September 12….I’m ready for orange!!!!

Happy Friday Fibre Friends!

I’m just sitting back and chilling after a fun day. I met a knitter from Sarnia who decided to road trip for yarn to Fergus - YAYYYYY! (She’s a dog lover so Bear had the best time sniffing and showing off) It’s always a treat to meet new knitty friends from far away places!

Annnnnnd, I did some restocking of yarn in preparation for Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters' Guild Knitter’s Fair on September 12….here’s a little of the BARBARIAN D&D yarn completed today! It’s on 80/20 SW Merino, 100g/400m

It will be there at KW with all the other character classes…along with some treasures and shinies for you to peruse!
