How amazing is this?!

This is a painting I made with all of the different pigments I have gathered so far from around Southern Ontario.

I find it so exciting to see all of the different colours you can find.

Which one is your favourite?

I hope everyone is staying warm with all this snowy weather!

I am back in the studio today putting some finishing touches on some works in progress.

I know I have been MIA for a while, but my goal for 2026 is to start posting more on social media.

I am still working with earth pigments πŸͺ¨ πŸͺ΅ and all of these pieces below are made with pigments I have collected from rocks, ashes, charcoal and coffee.

Some behind the scenes of the piece I'm currently working on.

A friend brought back some rocks that he collected camping and I am turning them into a couple paintings for him, to remember his trip by.

These are the rocks and the pigments that I got from them.

During the process of turning rocks into pigments, there is some sediment left over.

I like to try and incorporate it into my art so that I'm using all parts of the rocks and not wasting anything

I'm back!

I know I have been MIA for a while. Between working full time and raising two little ones, I don't get to paint as often as I would like.

I have been working on making Earth pigments out of rocks that I have collected, and want to share the process and what I have been doing with them.

Here are some of the colours that I have turned into watercolor paints and a painting I did with them. I also added in some of the small pieces of rocks I had left over after processing the rocks.

Here it is! πŸ“’

These small study pieces were all made with paints that I made myself out of ROCKS πŸͺ¨ 🀯 and charcoal.

Breaking down these rocks into pigment to make usable paint is quite a long and labour intensive process, but I loved every minute of it.

I will be working on making larger pieces on paper and canvas in the coming weeks.

Spending some time outside enjoying the sunshine 🌞 while working on something new. Stay tuned to find out what it is!

I'm calling this one "Into the forest I go"

10x10 gallery wrapped canvas
Acrylic and embroidery

I really like how this one turned out. Should I turn this into a collection of monochrome paintings? πŸ€”
