Yup, it’s that time of year again! Northern Exposures Photography is now accepting bookings for our 2026 Fall Photo Sessions in the Elliot Lake area.
Fall sessions begin Sunday, September 27 and continue through the weekends of October while the colours last.
SESSION OPTIONS
🍁 Mini Session — $75
A quick and simple fall session including 5 professionally edited photos.
📸 30-Minute Session — $125
A full 30-minute session with no photo limit — you’ll receive the best edited images from your session.
WEEKEND BOOKINGS
October is one of our busiest times of the year, so weekend availability fills quickly. Sessions will be booked in 30-minute blocks between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Weekend locations will be selected by us based on where the fall colours are looking their best. Clients will be notified by the Friday before their session with the location.
Prefer a particular spot? Weekday sessions may be available at requested locations, depending on our schedule. Send us a message with your preferred date and we’ll see what we can do.
All sessions take place locally in the Elliot Lake area.

🍁 WHAT COLOURS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
Fall changes quickly around Elliot Lake, and every part of the season gives photographs a completely different look.
Late September: This is usually the beginning of the colour change. Reds and yellows start appearing around town and along the edges of the forest, while many trails are still quite green. We often use more open areas and forest edges during this period.
Early October to around Thanksgiving: This is normally when the forest interiors really start glowing with yellows and golds. This is when we often move into locations such as the trails around Sheriff Creek.
Mid-October: Leaves begin falling quickly and some trees start becoming bare, but the forest floor becomes covered in colour. We look for those remaining pockets of vibrant foliage and areas filled with fallen leaves.
Late October / Early November: The bright colours are mostly gone and the scenery changes to softer browns, golden grasses and fallen leaves. This can be beautiful for rustic portraits, kids playing in leaves, Halloween photos and earthy autumn sessions.
Mother Nature ultimately makes the schedule — we just chase the colour! 🍂
👗 WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
For autumn sessions, we usually recommend colours that complement the scenery rather than compete with it.
Think burgundy, teal, mustard or deep yellow, brown, beige, cream, plaid and other warm earth tones.
Coordinating colours generally photograph better than everyone wearing exactly the same outfit.
🎃 SHOULD WE BRING ANYTHING?
Absolutely!
Feel free to bring anything that helps personalize your photos — blankets, pumpkins, signs/message boards, favourite props or anything else you would like incorporated into your session.
🌧️ WHAT IF IT RAINS?
If it is actually raining on the day of your session, we will contact you to arrange another available weekend or weekday time.
We do not normally reschedule several days in advance simply because a weather app is calling for rain. After years of doing this, we’ve learned that Northern Ontario forecasts can change about seventeen times before the camera even comes out. 😂
We make the call on the day of the session when necessary.
And remember: overcast is not bad photography weather! In fact, cloudy skies often create beautiful soft, diffused light with fewer harsh shadows, which can be perfect for fall portraits.

Please don't rely on commenting “Interested!” below the post as your booking request. We receive a lot of Facebook notifications and, as this post gets older, comments can easily be missed. If we see your comment we'll certainly try to contact you, but messaging, calling/texting or emailing us is the best way to guarantee we receive your inquiry.
PLEASE NOTE: New clients booking one of our high-demand early October weekend appointments may be asked for a $50 retainer toward their session to secure the time slot. Returning clients will not be required to provide a retainer.
We also ask that you please provide at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or change your appointment so we have an opportunity to offer that space to another family.
