🎭 The final curtain fell at our annual Spring Dinner Show "Suite Surrender" at the Elk Pont Allied Arts and Leisure Centre on Saturday, June 6th. A huge shout out to the Cast & Crew and all Volunteers for their countless hours they put in for making these events happen. As well, to all the attendees who make these shows a success. Thank you to all!
🔊 On behalf of the Cast and The Allied Arts Centre we want to take this time to acknowledge and remember a very special man whose passion, leadership and generosity helped shape the performing arts in our community... Don Conrad.
Don was the heart of music, theatre and community performance in Elk Point. Whether he was directing a play, organizing a dinner theatre production, supporting the choir or in helping build the vision for the Allied Arts Centre, Don believed that the arts mattered cause people mattered. Don gave countless hours so others could shine on stage. He welcomed nervous first time performers and encouraged seasoned actors & singers and created spaces where friendships grew alongside music & laughter. Under his leadership, the Elk Point Dinner Theatre & the Community Choir celebrated decades of performances that brought joy to audiences throughout the region.
Don understood something very important... Preforming arts are not just for entertainment, it builds community, they remind us to laugh together & sing together and support one another.
Many will carry a memory of Don... maybe a rehearsal, a backstage joke before curtain call or the proud smile he carried after all the performances finally came together. His legacy lives on in every standing ovation, either at a choir performance or dinner theatre production... and every person who discovers confidence on a stage in Elk Point because Don helped make those opportunities possible.
We'd like to thank him for his vision, his dedication and his friendship. Elk Point's artistic community is stronger because Don Conrad was part of it.
