Door designed by Roberta Della-Picca:
"Reaching for the Stars
My Art Piece depicts a symmetrical, traditional Star-Blanket design, on a black background. The Star is surrounded with our Four Sacred Animals, sittiing in the Four Sacred Direction, depicted as white silhouettes.
The Central motif is a multi-layered Star, with a tiny Purple Centre. Two shades of green expand outward from the Centre, into the Four Sacred Colours. Black, Red, Yellow and White chevron patterns create a radiant/radiating Star Quilt geometric design.
The Four Sacred Animals are placed at each of the Four Directions of our Star, as follows:
East: Eagle, whose Medicine Gifts include (but aren't limited to): Connection to Creator, Truth, Prayer/Sacred Intention, Responsibility and Integrity, with To***co, whose Medicine Gifts include: Carrying Prayer to Creator, Making Relations/Making a Request, Humility, Gratitude, and Reciprocity.
South: Turtle, whose Medicine Gifts include: Patience, Endurance, Protection, Women's Teachings, and Responsibility to Mother Earth, with Cedar, whose Medicine Gifts include: Protection/Purification, Healing, Strength, Clarity, and Grounding.
West: Buffalo, whose Medicine Gifts include: Abundance/Generosity, Gratitude, Endurance/Steadiness and Community Responsibility, with Sage, whose Medicine Gifts include: Cleansing/Protection, Healing, Reflection/Wisdom, and Calmness.
North: Deer, whose Medicine Gifts include: Gentleness/Sensitivity, Grace, Peace, and Intuition/Awareness, with Sweet Grass, whose Medicine Gifts include: Kindness, Love, Healing, Peace, Harmony and Sacred Connection."
