Edmonton’s oldest dance company opens a new chapter with the opening of the SHUMKA Dance Centre. Located at 10515-111 Street in downtown Edmonton, this 14,000 sq. performing arts facility houses four high-quality dance studios, plus wardrobe, storage, office, kitchen and meeting space. Each ground floor studio is fit with a true sprung floor, barres, mirrors, and sound system; and will be availabl

e for use by Shumka, the Shumka School of Dance, and local and visiting artists and arts organizations. Shumka’s goal is to keep rental costs accessible and inviting so the Centre can become a true hub for performing arts and culture. As Shumka and its school rehearse on evenings and weekends, we have substantial availability for studio rental from 9am to 4:30pm weekdays (considered Non Prime). Please email [email protected]

At a Ribbon Cutting event on October 13 and a Gala Grand Opening event on October 15, we officially opened the new Shumka Dance Centre, blocks from the ICE District, the Brewery District and the LRT Metro line, in the Heart of Downtown Edmonton. In support of the state of the art studio and administrative building Shumka is launching a fundraising campaign called .

Drawing from the memories of our audiences and community, Shumka Believes will inspire supporters old and new towards giving in support of Shumka's new home and its ongoing sustainability and improvements. With a goal of raising $450,000, Shumka Believes reminds us of Shumka's long-time presence in the local and national performing arts scene, and the legacy the company has left and will continue to leave for generations to come. Now with a new home, Shumka will develop, like never before, a success rooted in the hopes and dreams of everyone who has ever been amazed by Shumka's art and performances.

With the generous support of the City of Edmonton, the Province of Alberta, and donations from guests at the Gala Opening Event, we are over 50% towards our goal!

Two amazing events at the Shumka Dance Centre this week! With David Shepherd - MLA, Edmonton-Centre, Randy Boissonnault, Sanjay Shahani, Ukrainian Shumka Dancers, Rapid Fire Theatre, River City Events.

In a few shorts months, the Shumka Dance Centre has become a true home to Shumka, the Shumka School of Dance, and a number of other local arts groups, businesses and community organizations.
