A storybook brought to life through art, culture, and creativity 🌸

Join us for *Parsa’s Pithas: Read & Create* at Make Art Studio, a special interactive storytime and process art experience for children ages 3–7 and their caregivers.

This is more than a reading event. Children will step inside the world of *Parsa’s Pithas* through:
- live storytelling by Edmonton author Sumaiya Matin
- cloud painting + mixed media art
- clay, cardboard, and sensory play
- open-ended creative stations inspired by Bengali culture, spring, and imagination

Each child will also take home:
📚 their own copy of *Parsa’s Pithas*
🎨 artwork and creations from the event

If you’ve been looking for a meaningful summer activity that feels creative, calm, and different from the usual kids events, this is for you 🌿

4 things we do differently at Make Art Studio 🐅🎨

1. We focus on process over perfection.

Instead of step-by-step crafts, children explore materials in their own way through activities like string painting, cardboard art, and nature-based creating. This helps build confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

2. We encourage sensory exploration.

From playdough, moss, and animal figurines to painting with leaves and flowers, children learn through touch, movement, texture, and imagination. Sensory play supports fine motor development, emotional regulation, and brain development.

3. We use unexpected materials.

A flower can become a lion’s mane. String can become paintbrushes. Cardboard becomes wild animal habitats. Using open-ended materials teaches children to think creatively and see possibilities everywhere ✨

4. We create spaces where creativity feels safe.

Children are free to experiment, make mistakes, and explore without pressure. That’s often where the most meaningful learning happens.

This week’s wild animal theme was filled with texture, movement, sensory play, storytelling, and LOTS of paint-covered hands 🦁🌿

At Make Art Studio, we believe children learn best when creativity feels hands-on, playful, and full of exploration 💜

Some sweet smiles from our Mother’s Day Mom & Me Paint Collaboration 💐🎨

Each family created their own landscape painting where the mountains connected across both canvases, symbolizing connection, love, and creativity shared together.

But there was also a fun twist ✨

We did a canvas exchange challenge where moms and kids switched canvases every 3 minutes for 3 rounds. Watching everyone paint back and forth made the artworks feel even more connected, full of personality and so much fun.

And the sandwiches and macarons from were such a hit 🍓🥪.

So many beautiful moments, laughter, tiny surprises, and paintings created together 🤍

Thank you to all the amazing families who spent part of their Mother’s Day with us at Make Art Studio.

At Make Art Studio, we wanted to make Mother’s Day feel extra special because moms truly are something magical 💜.

This week, the studio has transformed into a tiny flower shop filled with cardboard creations, painted bouquets, flowers, colors, and imagination everywhere.

Children will paint, build, decorate, explore, and create floral-inspired artwork while making thoughtful little creations to bring home.

No pressure. No perfect outcome. Just meaningful creativity, tiny hands at work, and moments that feel like spring bottled into a studio 🌼
