Do you have your tickets yet? Boo at the Zoo, presented by North Central Co-op, is almost here! The season of pumpkins, costumes, and not-so-spooky fun starts at the Edmonton Valley Zoo this weekend!

Come to the zoo dressed up in your Halloween costume to visit with and learn about some of your favourite animals. And of course there will be treats! While our animals are getting their Halloween pumpkin enrichments, our human friends can score some candy at treat stops located around the zoo.

Boo at the Zoo will run October 17 & 18 and October 24 & 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tickets are available online in advance or at the gate. Regular admission rates apply; memberships and Leisure Access Passes can be used.

Planning a visit to the Edmonton Valley Zoo with your school or group this fall? Eligible groups will be able to book a program of their choice at no cost through the 2026 Attractions & Zoo Accessibility Program!

Is your group eligible?
🐯For groups with accessibility needs due to physical, developmental and/or sensory disabilities
🦓Programs must be booked in October or November 2026
🦥Group programs and tours must be for over 10 people*

⏰Attention animal lovers: we're updating our zoo hours for fall! 🍂Between Tuesday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Nov. 22, we’ll be open Thursdays to Sundays and Stat Holidays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The zoo will be closed Mondays-Wednesdays.

Come visit your favourite animals and make new memories with us! Low season admission rates will apply. Thank you for your continued support, and we’ll see you at the zoo!

With the autumn chills coming in, it is time for our feathered friends to migrate south for warmer weather. This year’s Migratory Bird Day theme, “Every Bird Counts – Your Observation Matter," celebrates public participation in tracking migratory birds and habitats. Community science, from backyard counts to coordinated surveys, reveals distribution, abundance, migration timing, and breeding success, guiding conservation priorities. Each observation deepens your connection to nature, raises awareness and inspires action.

On September 19, the Edmonton Valley Zoo welcomed 2,000 visitors with 15 conservation partners and celebrated Fall World Migratory Bird Day a little early. Visitors had the opportunity to learn how they can Detect, Protect and Respect birds through various activities culminating in making a promise on the Bird Friendly Pledge Banner. Thank you to all of our amazing partners for celebrating this special time of year with us!

Come say goodbye to Sulawe and Salju! 👋🐵

Our Lar gibbons, Sulawe and Salju, will soon be saying farewell to the Edmonton Valley Zoo as they relocate to a new accredited zoological facility within the coming weeks. However, before they begin their next chapter, come visit these special gibbons and enjoy their distinctive calls, curious personalities and incredible acrobatics.

Their habitat will soon be reconfigured to temporarily welcome Blade, our serval cat 🐱, while construction continues in the Zoo’s carnivore area. 🚧
We’re excited for Sulawe and Salju to embark on this new adventure, but we’ll certainly miss having them here.

Looking for an unforgettable camp experience for your child? School break camps at the Edmonton Valley Zoo and the John Janzen Nature Centre are available now! All camps offer early drop-off at 8 a.m. and late pick-up until 5 p.m.

Explore the zoo’s not-so-scary festivities with magical guest characters and spooky crafts all while collecting candy at our trick-or-treat stops throughout the zoo. 🍭🍬🍫 Visit your favorite animals and watch them enjoy enriching treats of their own!
