LitFest celebrates life stories, politics, science, art and fine wine through a series of performances and intimate conversations with notable authors. We tackle big ideas at more than thirty events in downtown Edmonton and throughout the region. LitFest brings together authors representing many facets of nonfiction literature for a two-week festival, scheduled between Thanksgiving and Hallowe'en each year.

The Writers' Guild of Alberta is looking for literary community members to be a part of this year's Alberta Literary Awards Juries! They have several categories where they need YOU to dedicate your time and care to help celebrate Albertan authors.

Deadline: September 18, 2026

In 2027, the WGA will present awards in ten categories, plus the city book prizes. They could not do this without the hard work and deliberation of their jurors.

The WGA expect jurors to be professional in their communications with other jurors while focusing on the literary merits of each piece. Read more about the qualifications they are looking for, and access the jury application on the WGA website now.

𝗔 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁!

Fourteen remarkable Canadian authors have been named to the 2026 Giller Prize longlist. These exceptional novels were chosen from more than 140 works of fiction submitted by publishers across Canada.

🎉 For the first time in prize history, the longlist was selected by a pan-Canadian jury panel of independent booksellers representing all five regions of Canada.

📣 Watch the 2026 Giller Prize on Monday, November 16, at 9 p.m. (11:30 p.m. AT, 12 a.m. NT) on CBC TV and CBC Gem. The program will also be available on CBC’s YouTube channel, and listeners can tune into a broadcast special on CBC Radio and CBC Listen.
