CW: passing of a dear dear friend.
Dear Sean Paul Arceta
I first met Sean when I was in high school. You were the coolest dude who'd always bust out incredibly complex moves and smooth flow. You were always nicest to us teenagers learning breakdancing.
Little did I know, our paths would cross many times over the years.
To many of us, he was a pure ray of sunlight. A perfect example of positive and whole heartedly supportive human. A person who was so dedicated to train and work on his craft despite his physical injuries, despite him "getting older" .
He was my role model. A person who taught don't let the age define what you can and can't do.
I've had the privilege to work along side you in many festivals. Kdays, street performers festival, children's festival to name few.
You've always been supportive of me whether that's my career as a performer or my life transitions.
I'd confidently say he was the best breakdancer I knew. He truly did fly when he was dancing and he always looks so fly doing it. He was a trailblazer. He was a community mentor. He was a piller of Edmonton community.
I am truly so grateful to have known him. I hope you're resting.
First is a video of Sean Paul Arceta working the crowd with Gerry Dai, Ralphy Miracle, Branden Cha and Zyryl Mariano
Rest in peace
