I just wanted to let everyone know! I'm back! I was cleared by my doctor this past Tuesday and have been tattooing for the last week.

After 13 days in the hospital, I am finally home.
I am forever grateful for everyone's kind messages, prayers, donations to the GoFundMe, and for sharing my story. My hope is that by sharing what happened, it may help educate others and prevent someone else from experiencing the same thing.

I was discharged with six new medications and am still adjusting to both them and their side effects. I'm slowly getting around on my own again and am having many tests, specialist appointments, and follow-ups over the next several days and weeks.

Being away from tattooing for this long has pushed us financially further than we ever imagined. Because of your incredible generosity through the GoFundMe, I've been able to take this week off and part of next week to focus on healing instead of rushing back before I'm ready. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Some days are good, and some are much harder. I'm learning to be patient with myself.

I know many people wanted to visit me in the hospital. Please know it was never personal. I'm a very private person, and I simply wasn't comfortable being seen that way. I appreciated every message!

For those who know me, you know I've never been very good at taking time off. In the 20 years I've been tattooing full-time, I've only ever taken one week each summer to head into the mountains and one week at Christmas.

This time healing is different. I've been reminded that healing isn't something you can rush, and I need to give my body the time it deserves.

There are so many people I want to thank.

Work in progress.

I usually only share in-progress pieces in my Stories, but I thought this one was worth posting.

This is the beginning of what will become a full Nordic mythology sleeve. Featured here is Odin with his ravens, flowing down to the hand where the client chose Northern Black's interpretation of the Helm of Awe.

The client is taking a break over the summer to enjoy the season, and we'll pick the project back up in the fall. This is still very much a work in progress, with plenty more detail and storytelling to come.

I've got a backlog of work I've been meaning to share—more Nordic projects, along with geometric and Polynesian pieces. I'll be aiming to post a new piece about once a week. One of the next pieces will be a historical Nordic leg sleeve based on an actual archaeological find, featuring a brooch discovered during a Norse excavation.

20% white to 80% black, first pass for Opacity, far too many times you'll see artists just trying to blast over black. Take it slow, use this basically base coat for a silky black.

Polynesian fusion back piece. I have done dozens of these over the years. This one I did a while back.
I think it fit the body really well, I like the detail.
About 70% of my work is Nordic and Celtic work. About another 20% is Polynesian fusion work. I work in both styles there's more similarities than you might think. I really enjoy working in both!
As an artist there's always something you want back, or want to fix. That might be why I don't post as much as I probably should. I've got so much content to post up. My friend has been convincing me, to let the world see my work. I have been fortunate enough in my career to get a fair amount of publicity, for my work. I never take it for granted. I hope you like this piece.

I did this on a lovely lady's inside bicep. She is a huge fan. We have a lot of books she loves that we have a couple books of Edgar Allan Poe. This one was fun!
I've truly been behind in posting. I'm going to do better and try to get more of my work on this platform. I have at least eight sleeves that need to be posted.

Was contacted by a friend in the UK, to do a collaboration. The client was from Colorado, he would fly up to Edmonton. To be tattooed 3 days straight!
Once Connor got me the initial drawings, it was then my job to translate them to a tattoo and to fit the client's leg. Chris the client had a huge leg!
With the wonderful help of the amazing .oakmund We came up with a design that flowed well with the leg. Isar is so generous with his limited time.
Once the client arrived, we spent half the day on day one, the Friday getting stencils and freehand drawing complete. Then the plan was, to dot in the entire front and sides of Chris's huge leg! As to not lose any stencil or freehand drawing. This in turn, saves time and saves the client money! It is a very efficient way, especially when you're working on such huge pieces.

On the second day I freehanded in, the Nordic wyrm. Then it was time to get at it! By the end of day two we had basically everything lined in except the Nordic wyrm.

On day three, I lined in the Nordic wyrm, then it was on to detailed negative space intricate work on his knee. Day three was a little shorter, as the client had to catch a 4:00 a.m. flight back to Denver then home.

Overall extremely happy with the process, and the progress so far. The client is happy and so looking forward to getting Chris back to work on this epic leg sleeve collaboration.

I've got to work this year on a good amount of projects, where the client is getting tattooed four or five days straight. The amount of work you can get done, especially since every one of these clients sits still and is very easy to work with. If you're looking to get a large piece or a sleeve. Saving for a multi-day session is well worth the money. In the long run you saved money and the project gets completed so much quicker. I know some of my contemporaries, work this way exclusively and I see why. Obviously not everyone can do it. If you can and have the patience to save your money multi-day session. It is well worth it.
Lastly the knowledge that I have learned from .oakmund on how to prep a client for a multi-sit day and how to keep them going.

Back in February I attended northern blacks tattoo moot, in York UK. Was an incredible event.
I had the opportunity to do a collaboration with .oakmund
Isar free-handed the entire design on our client, then I tattooed it for 5 days straight! Our client flew 8 hours just to be at this event!
Fast forward 2 months, now we are in Edmonton, Alberta Canada to continue the collaboration. Our client drove 8 hours this time to get to the location, through a blizzard! I tattooed him at my shop for a full day.
Then we moved on to in Edmonton to continue the project. I tattooed our client for a total of 4 days straight!
During this whole time, I was in constant contact with Isar concerning the design and ex*****on. I can't thank him enough for his dedication to this project.
We got very close to finishing, one more session needed. The three elements in the design are, and Nordic Fox, Yggdrasil and a Nordic Raven! The photos were taken outside in natural light and are completely unedited.
In my 20 years of tattooing full time, this might be the most incredible project I've been involved with. Tattooing on one side of the world for 5 days straight, then on the other side of the world for 4 days straight, not to mention as well in collaboration with one of the best artists in the world! Again I'd like to thank Isar and our client. For their dedication to this project.
