Join us for a talkback! Following the Sept 22 and 23 performances of MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, patrons are invited to stay behind to chat with some of the production's actors and creative team. These exclusive talkbacks are hosted by the amazing Ellen Chorley and provide audience members with the chance to ask the cast and crew questions about the show.
Did you know... talkbacks are part of our Students Club program! Before the show, Students Club participants attend pre-show workshops with a different guest artist for every show of the season. Then, after seeing the show, students are invited to attend facilitated talkbacks with the cast and crew.
From Poirot's Belgian accent to Ratchett's American drawl, from Mary Debenham's British pronunciation to Hildegarde Schmidt's German intonation, the Orient Express hosts a myriad of multi-national characters aboard it's fateful trip. Local vocal coach and director, Jennifer Spencer, will take students though the process of researching, building and consistently performing authentic dialects and accents on stage- you won't believe what the lips, the teeth and the tip of the tongue can do to make genuine sounding dialogue!
Jennifer Spencer is an Edmonton-based Actor, Director, Playwright and Voice/Text Coach. She is a sessional member of the Theatre Department of MacEwan—University, where, in 2019, she was nominated for a Distinguished Teaching Award. She was also nominated for a Sessional Excellence Teaching Award Spring 2026. Jennifer graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada and the Theatre Program at MacEwan University. She holds multiple certifications in Somatic Voice Work ™, the Lovetri Method, and accreditation with Honors from the One Voice Centre for Integrative Studies, author and creator of One Voice, Doctor Joan Melton.
