🌏 April 29 is also International Dance Day!!!
💫Sarisa began her formal dance training in classical ballet at the age of seven and graduated from the Edmonton School of Ballet’s Professional Program in 1993.
💫 She joined Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (DJD) of Calgary, a professional jazz dance company with the mandate to preserve and promote the rich history of jazz dance in 1994. She subsequently performed with the company for 15 seasons, performing in over 30 of their productions between 1994 and 2012. Her passion for jazz dance and music has taken her around the world, studying jazz and many of its root forms. Apart from dancing with DJD, she performed with various choreographers, companies and directors including Theatre of the Living Statue, Sage Theatre and One Yellow Rabbit as well as in two independent Bravo!FACT films.
💫 She has taught and choreographed extensively for schools and companies including DJD, Western Canada High School, Victoria School of the Arts, Theatre Calgary, the University of Calgary, Orchesis, J’Adore and La Bella Vita Arts (Vada, Italy). Sarisa was Artistic Assistant for DJD from 2007-2013, Artistic Director for several of DJD’s dancer-choreographed evenings and its main stage production, Tinge and Tone, and was Artistic Associate for DJD from 2013-2016.
💫 She has recently relocated to Edmonton with her family and is excited to share her love of jazz with the Edmonton dance community.

👣👣Floorwork Basics👣👣
This class takes students through various entries to the floor using the techniques of breaking, capoeira, graham, limon, and house to practise simple floorwork drills, that can then be equipped throughout larger movement syllables, and in improvisational stanzas. Safety is a top priority: this class is flexible to suit the skill range of the participants playing. This class pulls from the practises of Emmalena Fredrickson, Shay Kuebler, Martha Graham, Pat Miner, Daryl Tracy, and Daniel Ninarello. Please wear long sleeves, and bring knee pads (if needed) for this class.

🌷 Apr 15 - Kathy Metzger - Ballet

🌷 Kathy Metzger has been a dance artist, choreographer and teacher of ballet, contemporary modern, creative dance and Pilates, since 1990 at a variety of schools, for all ages and levels, in the Edmonton area.
🌷 Kathy has choreographed works for Dirty Feet Productions, Alberta Dance Explosions, Edmonton Dance Centre, Citie Ballet, Expanse Festival and Orchesis since 1995. Her professional performing experience includes Mile Zero Dance Co., Brian Webb Dance Co., Usha Gupta, Heidi Bunting, Tamara Bliss, Citie Ballet, The New Dance Collective, Kathy Ochoa and Kathleen Hughes.
🌷 After finishing her Masters of Arts in 2017, Kathy is currently teaching dance studies for the University of Alberta, Concordia University, teaches for the City Arts Centre, Dance Code Studio, and performs regularly with KO dance projects and Initial 6 – a dance research group.
