OPENING FRIDAY, JULY 25, 2025 @ 7 PM
We are delighted to invite you to celebrate the Summer Season with us on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 7 pm as we unveil two captivating exhibitions that are both conceptually and visually stimulating. These projects explore compelling topics such as violence and mourning, cultural identity and femininity, socio-political issues, and various aspects of existential philosophy.
In Harcourt’s Main Gallery, Claudia Chagoya presents Novem, a haunting, provocative multimedia installation that offers a unique perspective on grief – an experience that is both intensely personal and universally shared. This immersive work combines traditional Mexican ritual elements with powerful symbols of protest, mourning, and love, addressing feminicide (the killing of women due to their gender). Through this poignant piece, Chagoya highlights the societal neglect of women in Mexico and the ways this disrupts the grieving process, ultimately contributing to the devaluation of life.
We hope you will join us in experiencing the artistic, educational, and cultural offerings of Harcourt House this Summer and beyond.
